Thanks for the tips, you're a great source of information!

There are two people who work together - a plasterer/carpenter, and a plumber, plus a sparks for any electrical work. I've asked him how long it would take, roughly...

If anyone is interested, the guy said the job would take 5-7 days.

Good morning: Timeline sounds about right... 5-7 days (2 bodies + sparks) same as OH's estimate for solo job. Have lots of vacuum/rubbish bags on hand, restock the tea and get in some nice biscuits.
Best of luck...we expect a progress report!;)

  • Haha! That's hilarious! I'm the guy that did the quote for melissa, glad to see I seem to have come out of that thread quite well (apart from the batting eyelids thing! I don't remember that!!)

Anyway, I didn't hear back from Melissa so I guess someone did it even cheaper... how did they manage that??

I just couldn't resist replying to a thread in MSE where I'm the subject... that can't happen very often!
  • You can come and do mine for that price :)
    de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar ;)

  • Blimey! There's always a Polish guy involved!;-)

I can't help noticing the whole Canada connection with you Canuck.. very seriously thinking of heading that way (Vancouver) for a better life.. I have relatives that can sponsor me but I'm just concerned about the work, would a decent plumber/builder have a good chance out there do you think??

Sorry to ask! you don't have to reply of course!
  • ...and thanks aurora! you know where I am!!
  • Good evening: Plumbing is a regulated provision in Canada (as are many other trades) i.e. full apprenticeship and licence required. If you are interested in Vancouver(fantastic city BTW), info on becoming a qualified plumber in British Columbia is available here http://www.itabc.ca/TrainingPrograms_Profiles.php?TradeProfileID=17#Program%20Profile
For info on emigrating check out the Canada forum at www.britishexpats.com (read the wikis first before you post;) ) In terms of work, lots available in Alberta and to a lesser extent, BC, if you are qualified. Prepare yourself for a tremendous amount of research and paper pushing:eek:
