Haven North Wales

We have decided to go to one of the Haven sites in North Wales this year for our holidays, but I can't decide between Greenacres and Hafan y Môr, has anyone been to either of these sites and give me some feedback to help with my decision ? We will be taking two children aged 14 and 11, and easy access to the beach would be good 😊 .......Thank you 😁

I had to look this up, as Ty Mawr used to be the name of a tiny site, not far from Rhyl, which is no longer Haven.

We stayed at Hafan y Mor, Pwhelli , many years ago, when you could have catered accommodation.

It was a lovely site, including a duck pond, with lots of choice and our chalet (middle range, then called silver ) was of good standard. However, the catering was poor (dirty plates and undercooked eggs) but that won't apply nowadays. The other downer being that the evening entertainment was not very good and some not suitable for children, with not enough warning given,
but that will have changed, too.

I've never seen Greenacres, but it looks quite small, rather like Ty Mawr, which we visited but decided not to use for that very reason.

Given the choice, with children, I would go for the larger site, as there is more choice, especially if the weather is not good. The swimming pool will also be larger on the bigger site, too.

Greenacres and ty Mawr are not small . Its greenacres in black rock not queensferry BTW . Hafan y mor is better site both close to the beach but black rock sands is a better beach (about 15 minutes drive from each other ) your kids maybe too old for the entertainment in both as they are at that age . both have good pools and plenty to do , enjoy North wales

We have stayed in a few Havens in our touring caravan when they have had special offers. Normally pay about £4 a night. They seem to charge this just to get people on site and spending.
Only been to Greenacres out of your two choices. The beach is very close by and you walk to it from the back of the site. I remember it as just a massive area of sand. Havens tend to have a nice pool which most kids like. You can pay extra for pool activities like aqua jets and sorbing which the kids like and are good value. I seem to remember a slide but can't see it on photos. During the day there are activities with the yellow coat entertainers - mainly young people. I think there was a tiger called Rory. Our kids did fencing which was excellent. In the evening there is a show with the entertainers which was more fun than watching TV - just. The adults sit round with yards of ale while the kids have gigantic cokes with massive curly straws. To go to most activities you have to walk through an arcade of machines which could cost you. We read Haven reviews before we went and most of the issues were with the quality of the static caravans which people rent. All the time you are there they try to sell you static vans. I bought fish and chips and the till said £20000 which panicked me until I realised it was an advert for new caravans. For us it was better than most campsites and there were activities for the kids when it rained which it did a lot. The kids left saying they wanted to go back, but when next year came they wanted to go somewhere else. You should enjoy it - I think it's aimed at slightly younger kids than yours but there will still be plenty for them to do.

We've stayed at both but prefer Greenacres, we felt it was cleaner, preferred the beach, I thought the pool at Hafan Y Mor looked rusty and dirty but I guess it's down to individual preference at the end of the day

I went to the Haven at Quay west, normally go to Horburne Torbay, but went to wales to see the dolphins
would never go to a Haven site again, felt as if they just wanted me to open my wallet and let them take all the money out all day long,
I know they are want to make money but this was over the top
at Horburne it does not feel like they are after your money

I agree 100% about all the haven centres . Its all about the sales . The things that are "free" are not very good . Play parks walks gardens
    etc
