in Credit cards
After reading last months article, I applied for and received the card. I then received a phone call to activate the card and was asked what amount I would like to receive into my bank account. In spite of saying that I didn't want anything, the girl persuaded me to receive £2,000 "as it was free with the monthly payment". I now find a 'balance transfer fee' on my statement. Can I object to and cancel this?

Are you sure that you are not a troll??
First of all you ring them to activate the card not the way you describe it.
Where is the £2k now and is it showing as a debit balance on your statement?
If what you say is true you may have mis-heard her saying it is ''interest free'' not ''free with the monthly payment'' which makes no sense at all.0 -
OP not come back so have to assume it was a Troll.0

There should be no problem with it. I was also offered £4k which I accepted and once it was put in my bank account I paid my mortgage with it which is 6.75%. The money you get is interest free for a year. They will charge you BT fee of 3% which you pay as a monthly minimum payment. If you use the £2000 wisely you are still better off than paying 3% on it.0 -

Very strange. Perhaps this is why they call August the silly seaon.0
