Hubby has booked package, with flights - not possible to canx this as we will loose flights too.

So what. Why should Priceline care.

You really need to get a grip of reality. You entered into a contract. The t&cs were plain and simple. You agreed to them. THATS IT.

    change your mind = TOUGH.

dont like it = dont use priceline.

Maybe Im different,I dont see what the problem is here, but then again I read the t&cs before I hit the Pay button

Yet again it's a case of someone complaining about a company enforcing the T's & C's of a contract that they knowingly entered into. I'm suprised that the title of the thread wasn't something like Priceline have stolen my money or I've been scammed

For the record. I never said Priceline were acting outside of the T & C, all I said is that I made a mistake, and if they wanted to they could make an exception - if you don't ask, you don't get.

    I'm asking - what's the big deal?

The comments are not aimed at you personally longbaygirl (although making comments like the above will not do you any favours), it is just that this Board is being overloaded with people not reading the t & c's, and (though I am not necessarily saying this applies to you) then blaming the service supplier.
    Gone ... or have I?

    No big deal at all.
You asked Priceline to vary the terms of the contract and they refused.
I have known Priceline to cancel without charge for GOOD reasons like bereavement but not because a traveller hasn't bothered talking to her husband first.
Expensive mistake as it has cost you £400 but you knew the conditions when you booked.
And dmg is right patronizing remarks simply because we don't agree with you doesn't do you any favours at all and makes you appear very immature.
    Have a nice holiday.

Have you considered cancelling the other hotel your husband booked?

Managed to book hotel via Priceline 10mins before hubby coming home from work and telling me he had already booked accommodation somewhere else.

Contacted hotel, who were very nice and said because I had contacted them so quickly, Priceline had not even sent the reservation through and they would canx it.

Contacted Priceline, who were not nice, and said they would still charge me, even though they won't be paying hotel as my reservation is canx.

    This is Priceline.com (not .uk).

I paid with Mastercard, can I withhold payment and ask Mastercard to intervene in dispute?

Firstly, you obviously haven't read this handy guide

    Secondly.
When your bid is accepted Priceline take the money from your credit card.
Priceline then send the reference to the hotel and details of a Priceline credit card.
When you complete your stay the hotel bills Priceline.
If you are a no show then the hotel bills priceline for one night.

So once your bid is accepted priceline get the money. If you or the hotel (unusual) cancel then priceline don't get a bill from the hotel and they're quid$ in.

    Solution:

    1)
Sometimes priceline will cancel the winning bid if you then bid again for the same amount (though this is usually for the same dates).
This way they still get the money and you may be able to bid for different dates or location -Long shot.

    2) Who's name is on the check in? (You had to put the name in during the bidding process.)
Sometimes you can contact the hotel with some ruse that you guest will be arriving first and they'll be checking in.
Quite often the hotel don't even check as they'll get the money from priceline anyway.
You could then let someone else have the room (friends, family ..)

    3) Similarly some hotels let you check in over the 'phone. You could do this and then let someone else stay. Element of risk to both 2) and 3) if you've sold the stay on ebay etc.

All long shots and I don't hold out much hope.

    Good luck
