SNAD return - advice please

I bought an item which was not as described. The seller stated she did not accept returns but as a goodwill gesture would accept this and refund me the item cost only.

I opened an ebay case but need a bit of advice about the process please. I've just been reading another thread on here about return postage and that seems to be saying I should print off a pre-paid returns label via the ebay case - but I can't see any option for this. Can someone please tell me where to get this, or does it only apply to certain returns and not all?

The seller has given me her address through normal email but it doesn't look like she has entered it into the ebay case as it says they are still waiting for the seller to provide an address.

I actually came on here to ask the best way of returning, does it have to be signed for or just recorded, or what? But now it looks like the whole process may have changed so please could someone advise me? Thanks!

If the item is not as described then it isn't a "goodwill gesture" for the seller to accept a return, they haven't got a choice.
I'm not familiar with how getting the postage paid label actually works right now.
I would point out that you should not be in a worse financial position than before you purchased the item when you have returned it. You should contact Ebay and ask their help to fund the return.

Thanks RFW, I think we cross-posted, I didn't see your reply until after I had posted this (below),

Also, I'm confused as the ebay case says they are waiting for the seller to provide the return address... but on that screen, below my comments when I opened the case it lists the seller and gives an address. But the address given on that page is different to the one the seller gave me by email.

How does this work? Do I wait for ebay to instruct me to return it and send to the address they tell me to - or to the one the seller gave me?
  • Do they still have Live Chat? I can't find a link for it and when I look at options to contact them it says call them and then you have to click on options to say what the problem is...

when I say it's not as described it says open a case and follow the process - the option to call them vanishes when I select the option to say what it's about.

How am I supposed to contact them? I don't know if I'm supposed to return to the address the seller gave me or wait until ebay tell me where to send it?

Just keep trying random options until you get a phone number.

  • Thanks Soolin. I don't know if I need to ring them now - it looks like the address has been updated.

I'm still confused though - it says I have to contact the seller for a returns label. How does this work?

I'm worried about just sending it via RM in case they won't refund - I was reading another thread on here about a postage mix up and the person said they didn't get an ebay label and then ebay wouldn't refund.

All I can see is an option for me to enter tracking details but it doesn't say if I have to send it signed for or recorded... it also says seller will pay return postage but if she can't/won't send me a label I don't see how this will work? I *thought* ebay would send me the label.

Sorry to be so dim, I'm really finding this confusing.

I feel your pain. Try link below- scroll down to the bottom and click live help. It takes a while to sort out with them, but at least you can do other things at the same time....

Thank you movingon - they have confirmed it's ok to send by RM as long as I get a tracking number. :)

The only tracked RM service is special delivery which is going to cost a fortune. If you haven't got a label (and |I'm a bit confused at the moment) then use MyHermes as it will be a lot cheaper.
