Is this a 'Purchase' for 0% purposes

A Balance on a Next Catalogue / Store Card, not eligible for a balance transfer as not a credit card, however I have a 0% on purchase promotion, if I login to the next account and 'pay' the balance using the card is that for all intents and purposes a 'purchase'

I can't think why not?

Or am I safer paying the bill with any old credit card, and then balance transferring in the normal sense after that to a 0% on transfers card? Both options are available but I prefer the simple route

TIA

I am pretty sure it's a purchase. You can make a small payment first to check and be 100% sure. If it's a purchase it does qualify for 0%.

Does the Next Card allow you to pay it off using a credit card? It would surprise me if it did.

I wouldn't risk it. They have all sorts of ways of classifying payments. If they decide it's cash you're screwed
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Many store cards accept CC payments. Nothing surprising.

Firstly, it's the merchant who classifies the payment.
Secondly, the number of classes if very small.
And finally, this question has been asked many times here in the past and I have not seen a single report that such payment was classed as a cash advance.

Not correct. It surprises me (assuming it's true), therefore it is surprising.

Thanks all, considered, the 'simple' route actually seems be to pay it off and then BT it to the 0% card, but I'll make a point of noting how the transaction appears on the card I pay it off with

Quick follow up, the transaction to pay off the card simply appeared as 'Next Directory' on the online statement, and nothing to suggest any more than just a purchase
