Vw Cutting Out/Wont Start?
why pay VW a fortune like most unaware motorists? why not go through a money saving list and fix it yourself?
i know its a daunting thing to have to fix youre car for some people but then again why pay VW £75 PER HOUR to diagnose your car on VAG-COM the official VW diagnostic software only for it to be a watse of time?
there are a host of people out there who might encounter the "cutting out" problem with their VW. I personally have come accross it with my latest incarnation of the golf, the mk3 gti 16v.
It occurs either when deccelerating for a junction etc and the car will cut out and not start for a good few minutes OR the car will lose all power at anytime/any speed and then kick in again.
this is a WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, even VW know about it but seem to have done nothing about it so far, it also seems as thought the dealers are either blind or fraudluant so far.
im going to quote a good source of mine to try and help money-savers rectify this problem without haveing to pay VW a fortune to do it for them:
1. Replace Rlay No 167 - The Fuel Pemp Relay - £8
2. Replace Rlay No 30 - The ECU Relay £10
3. Clean the throttle body of carbon, spray carburettor cleaner up the air intake whilst running to clean the butterflys in the housing - £2
4. Replace the Crank Shaft Sensor £45
hope this is of use to someone

Not really. Your source is merely using "stab in the dark" diagnosis which is likely to miss faults that display the same symptoms such as defective plug leads, plugs or coil(pack) OR MORE SERIOUSLY a perforated Brake servo. So you'll change all of that lot, spending £65, to have it do exactly the same.
And if you can't afford £75 for maintenance on the car, you can't afford to run one.0
