Leaving date after rent date

Our rent date is 16th of the month. We are on a monthly rolling contract. We are in the process of buying a house with an entry date of 24 July. As soon as our mortgage is confirmed (applied on Thursday) we plan on handing in our notice to our landlord to give as much notice as possible. My question is what is the likelihood of us staying until 24 July paying an extra 9 days rent or would we have to pay up until 15 August?

Ask your landlord, simple really???0

It's the date your tenancy started that's important, not the date you pay the rent.
However, assuming your tenancy started on the 26th and you're in Wales given your user name then legally your obligated to pay rent up to 15th regardless of when you move out. You can always negotiate with your landlord to pay pro rata rent though.
Don't give notice until you've exchanged. Anything can happen up until then.0 -
Rent date is irrelevant.
Fixed term tenancy? Or Periodic? If periodic, tenancy period date is what matters.
Do NOT give notice when your mortgage is approved. Wait till you Exchange Contracts - anything can happen and you don't want to be charged double rent fro not leaving when your notice expires do you.....?
Talk to your landlord. Irrespective of the law, you can end the tenancy on any date you want provided the landlord agrees...
