Capping Gas Fire

Options
Hi,

I have just moved into my first house and in my front room I have an old gas fire and art deco surround. I want to remove both.

However to remove the art deco fireplace I first need to remove the old gas fire in front (which is piped out from the side of the chimney brest around the front and into the fire). Any idea on how much will it cost to cap the gas pipe off so I can remove the old fire place? It must be a 5 min job for a gas man...

Thanks,
Rik

I cant remember exact figures but it was about £50 for exactly the same job. Our deco fireplace was absolutely hideous, I am a lover of all things 30's but even this was too much for me, couldn't ever see pink and grey tiles working with anything we had!
