Not A Vent, More Of A Question

I bought 2 items that are exactly the same from a shop, 1 of them cost £2 more than the other on the price ticket.
When I was paying for the 2 items, (they were grill pans BTW), I asked why the difference in price for 2 identical items and was informed that the shop must have bought them in on 2 separate times on 2 separate "deals" hence the £2 price difference.
The receipt even shows 2 difference product codes & prices but both pans are identical and from the same manufacturer.
I'm not going to loose any sleep over 2 quid but can a shop charge 2 separate prices for the same item depending on the price they paid for it, I'm just curious to know ?.

I assume the shop was tkmaxx.. It's perfectly legal.0

A weird way of selling stuff, though.breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0

They're by far not the only company to do this, HMV used to be nightmares for it having products often at 2-3 different prices depending on what they'd paid for it.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

Game shops as well, I have found, have a habit of doing this.
Found the same, second hand game priced at two, or three different prices, with no difference between them.0 -
The word "loose" means something completely different from the word "lose".0

Always look on the bright side, you got one for £2 less than the otherIt's someone else's fault.0 -
Yep perfectly legal they don't have to charge the same. No one has the "right" to buy anything. The contract is made when the sale is agreed and accepted by both parties. I.e when you hand over your money (you offer to buy it) and when they ring it in and accept it.
Also as both products were clearly marked with the seperate prices no intention to mislabel or deceive the consumer so they are completely legal regards that.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -
If there was no price ticket - would both be £2 cheaper?0

I worked in a small shop that used to repackage stock and price it according to their payment price (so when the supplier had a bulk promotion on the discount got passed on the the customer). Sometimes a customer would ask about different pricing on two identical items but were happy when it was explained that one was discounted!0
