Motor home as investment?
Comments
-
If the original poster is the Raine that used to post on the motorhomefacts website then she will be well aware of the pitfalls of motorhome ownership. If that is not the person then I suggest she repeats this enquiry on the outandaboutlive.co.uk website (the motorhome website of the MMM magazine) where people have looked into this issue.Take my advice at your peril.0

I'm really not. I'm not advocating this as an investment. I am saying (in the case of the Motorhome thing) that there is insufficient information to judge either way.I think you're being incredibly naive.
The virtue as I understand it is that the vehicle is a tangible asset that you own, and which has a value.I could promise any return to anyone but if I don't have the money then that promise is completely worthless.
I presume there are risks to do with the car market collapsing, and the vehicle not being worth enough to pay back the predicted future value.0 -
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

This is a reasoned critique of the model...

Thanks all for your replies.
Mike - no I am not that other Raine that you mentioned - I have not heard of that site
Colsten - are you suggesting that I have some kind of link with this company ? I can assure you I have not. You think it is strange that someone would join this forum and ask a question about a specific company and idea? Isn't that the point?? I have read posts on here before but just joined today so I could post.
I am just a normal person with a job (nothing to do with motorhomes!) trying to decide if this is a really good idea or a lemon. I thought I would come here to gather opinions because of course the marketing makes it sound attractive and I wanted an independent view from people more used to investments than me
Thanks all - food for thought
Raine - real person, nothing to do with the company and rather disappointed to be accused of some kind of sneaky (and rather laborious and weird) advertising...:(0 -
On balance I think if I had £36K to invest, a Buy-to-let property would probably make a better investment.
However, the £14k for 27% return on the car leasing seems more plausible.
I don't have any connection to the companies, either.0 -

Good Lord. Is this crap even being entertained?
It is complete scam. As colsten stated why would anyone with any busniess model that guarantees 10-27% need Money from random members of the public.
Take the model to a bank, show them your business plan, borrow at 4% become rich. Why pay 10-27% to borrow money?
Answer is simple: banks will not lend because model is floored. Gullible members of the public will. You make money by not paying back your investors.Left is never right but I always am.0 -
Sorry, you simply cannot go around libelling companies like this.
If you have evidence that it is a scam, post away. Otherwise, you really do need to stop saying it.
You haven't even understood what the 27% means. It equates to about 8.5% per year, before tax at 20%. So just under 7% net. That's the kind of return you used to get from the Banks.0 -
