Took out AA cover for £39 via Quidco and they declined it.

The deal was listed as £11.40 cashback for policies between £39 and £59.99

I appealed it and it was declined again.

On reading the terms on quidco to check what went wrong I found this:

"Cashback will not be paid on AA UK Breakdown policies of £39 or less."

This makes the guide on here for cheap breakdown cover wrong as it says: "This reduces the £39 vehicle-only policy to £24/yr."

Neither topcashback or quidco offer cashback for the £39 policy currently.

Tried to cancel AA cover and was told I would lose £20 admin charge so just kept it on for the year.

Wish I'd seen this post above as I've just done the very same and been declined cashback. The MSE article on this has been updated in July but still says as quoted above that the £39 charge will be reduced to £24. Completely wrong.
  • My first post ever so here's hoping: Just watched Martin's How To Haggle video and then haggled with AA. Got top cover and 33% discount!:j:T

I had cover with the AA, then after a year the price increased and they automatically renewed it.
I was not happy about my bank details being kept for a year, and then used without my permission.
I cancelled and got a refund. I currently dont have breakdown cover, as I dont do many miles.
But I will be thinking about getting cover now its the holiday season, with anyone, but not the AA.
  • Renewal came in and had increased £10 per month which I was shocked about as I had not used it, done an online quote and found cheaper similar policy's so rang to cancel.

Got the usual from the person at the end of the line about how they are better but amazingly got £7 a month knocked off the new renewal..
I thought id try my luck a bit more so I said I still wasn't happy so he asked if he could put me on hold and discuss with a manager...
As if by magic I was offered another reduction which makes my policy near enough the same as before!

Goes to show don't always try the first offer! :j
