Azimo

I transferred some money to a friend's account in Nepal but it is not going through. Azimo says it is due to the earthquakes. I am really worried that this company may not be genuine. I had to upload the photo page from my passport as a security measure (so they said) and this is worrying me also.
Can anyone tell me please if this company is genuine?

I'd say they are genuine, they seem to have been around since at least 2012. I'm sure that they're right that the earthquakes have caused massive disruption to the financial system in Nepal, and smaller organisations without the infrastructure in place that larger ones have may be worse affected. You might have been better to use a proper bank or a big money transfer company such as Western Union and taken the hit of extra fees in order to be more confident that that the money would arrive in a reasonable time.

I've used Azimo several times to send money to Argentina, as they have some of the best rates around for Argentina. Last time I used it the cash was picked up within a few hours. However, they work with local partner companies in each country so it will depend to a large extent how well the local company is able to respond to the crisis.
