O/S Daily Thursday 14th May 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, no cloud and sun shining, air feels rather cool though, hopefully it’ll warm up.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, broccoli, peas and green beans, ice cream or yogurt for dessert. Tonight’s dinner will be HM lasagne with side salad and skinny chips for the menfolk just lasagne and salad for me.
Work wasn’t too bad, but I was doing a different job, but my colleagues were horrendously busy again, hoping it eases off for them today, but I doubt it.
Washing machine engineer came and it needs a new drum assembly – he’s ordered it and re-booked me in for tomorrow (Friday 15th), he will let me know today what sort of time. It’s only 4 years old, goods are not made to last anymore! Got my normal chores done when I got in from work then as soon as DS2 got in from school – went to laundrette to do the dirty washing, took 2 loads, used 2 different machines and was there and back with the washing done, but needing to be dried in an hour, so not too much messing about.
Today I’ll be doing all the usual chores, ironing, pack, housework, I have a couple of items to take to the PO, and a booking form and monies to get booked in for our village Yard Sale day – this will be our 4th year and it’s always enjoyable, hopefully the weather will be kind, it really does help as people don’t mind wandering if the weather’s nice. We have a free weekend the weekend before so we’ll be sorting loads of stuff to sell.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone.
Already looks a lovely day out there. Blue sky and few clouds. I really enjoy summer mornings.
Last night's IT session went so well. I get so much pleasure from seeing this group learning and being so happy about it.
Today I'm off to Glasgow which is a pity on this lovely day, but it must be done. I've got a dental appointment there (six months waiting list here) and will get in some shopping too. I'll be staying overnight with my mum which we'll both enjoy.
Roofer will be back today and tomorrow moving to the front of the steading. New chasing for the new flashing I think.
So it's breakfast and then heading south. I'll wait until school traffic is finished though.
Hope everyone has a warm day too.0 -
Morning all,
Cold here and we are due rain all day, bit of a change from yesterday when it was like the height of summer ! back to jumpers and coats today !
Broke my glasses at work yesterday snapped clean in half, thank god I had another pair otherwise I could not have even driven home safely.
Dinner tonight will be something and chips will go and have a look in the freezer after this will be something quick though.
Shopping being delivered tonight and will have a quick tidy round.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
brrr its a little chilly this morning ive just given in and put the heating on. Mainly for the dogs benefit as I am planning on giving them a bath later. Got most of what I wanted to do in the house done yesterday so nothing urgent to be done today (though I have noticed a few 'hanging gardens' that need disposing of.
Anything goes for tea tonight. ive got bits and pieces that need using up.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Looks like a nice sunny morning here. Slept better as DDs nagged me into using a heat patch on my back.
House looks so much better after the cleaning service blitzed it yesterday. Feel a bit guilty as I want to have been able to have done it myself but gave myself a good kick up the bum. I can't even bend without pain right now, I don't regret having spent every minute with DH and family and the house is so big I could not have done as good a job. Never used a cleaning service before but I need the house looking respectable for after the funeral.
Someone is coming around ten to sort out the garden and I need to pick up a copy of the will.
Bless the person who mentioned the just last s**son site as it meant I got a couple of black dresses delivered that are a good make and about half the price. Have not had the time or health to trek round shops so it was a real boon.
DD is out for dinner so will do something simple for myself. She has to go abroad for work the day after the funeral but older DD and SIL will be around.

Good luck with the dentist.

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's persistently raining here this morning so I've booked a taxi in half an hour for DD12's orthodontist appointment. My friend is supposed to meet us there so I don't have to worry about getting back hopefully. Hubby and the other girls are safely off to school/work and thankfully there is only one more day till the weekend.
I'm another one making chips and something for tea, probably sausages as our shopping isn't being delivered until tomorrow evening. I was very sick yesterday and still feel a bit iffy this morning all due to severe indigestion. I am eating far too much bread and this is not helping at all. I might have a stab at the 5:2 diet, will look it all up later. I'm pretty sure I have the book on my kindle.
Well, better stir my stumps and get organised, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Bright here, I have laundry in, its very windy so hoping it dreis quickly as we have rain forecast for later, do not want to have to use the dryer unless I have to. Heating turned off, its May for heavens sake.
My shoulder was giving me gyp last night, think it objected to me carrying a heavy bag, OH put some stuff on it and I dosed up with pain killers, slept well and this morning its much better.
Off to feed DD2's cat. will leave him in this morning and go down later to feed him and let him out. Duties finished on Saturday.0 -
its chucking down here. Waiting for a break in the rain so I can rescue my wheelie bin.

Morning on a miserable wet day.
I am not having the best day, with my anxiety levels sky rocketing... for seemingly no reason. Next door is having their kitchen done and the banging and noise is very stressful, not to mention the strange cars and vans parked outside the house. I realise this is all paranoid nonsense, but not feeling well today.
I've taken my meds and am having a cuppa, then I think I might try and do some knitting. I would go down and take my knitting to the local coffee shop, but I have to wait in for a delivery.
I got one of those Birds trifle kits from Approved Food (didn't even know they still made these!) so will make one for after dinner later as a treat, and I got some mince out of the freezer last night, so with the punnet of tomatoes and a red pepper I think I'll be making spag bol.
Hope everyone is well today.0 -
Hi all
Hope you are all well.
Raining here so Mr Gintot and I have been cooking and vacuuming this morning.
I made a loaf of bread by hand from a Girl Called Jack's recipe. It came in as an e-mail the other day so I thought that I'd try it. Her recipe had bashed up peanuts in it but I only had cashew nuts so used those.
I don't normally bake bread by hand-I luurve my breadmaker, but this recipe looked so simple that I gave it a go.
It looks nice and we will eat it with the apple and parsnip soup that is cooking on the hob.
Dinner? don't know yet. Mr g might have to go to the supermarket. I don't know yet if DS is in for dinner-that affects the menu planning on the days he's in. Or I have the ingredients for pasta bake to save going out.
Ooops I appear to have written an essay.
Better go!
Keep dry and warm everyone.
