ok thanks
I will try that on monday morningI MAY HAVE NOTHING.....BUT ITS MY NOTHING0 -
We just went through to Lloyds to cancel PPI on 2 loans we have with them. We were told we had to renegotiate the loans - fine as long as they were at the same APR (they would be)
Sounds good yes? No....... We made sure he wasn't doing another credit check and he said it was the only way he could do it. We told him that would inadvertantly be financially disadvantaging us by leaving a 'footprint' and the FSA had ruled they could not do that. We asked to speak to a manager - she was on the phone
Fine - Can she call us back? No, she finishes at 3! (it was 2.05pm when we asked)
Can anyone advise us where we stand please? We've been paying this unwanted (and unasked for) ppi for nearly 5 years now and we can't even cancel it!!!
Edit: We've just been told because it's 2 loans - it's going to be 2 credit checks!!!!! Is this right??? We called back to complain and were told both Martin and FOS are wrong! What do we do now? After 4 years of heartache, 3 rounds of IVF and 1 loss :A - we are finally expecting our miracle Ki11en - May 2014 :j
And a VERY surprise miracle in March 2017!0 -
After you get the first or seconfd letter asking for more time i would send your complaints into the financial ombudsman and ask them to invistigate the matter, thats whst i have just done. i hate getting fobbed off. Let the company your dealing with knwo what you are doing and you might get a quicker response.0

Hi there, if that's the case then the Financial Services Authority have stated they believe 'no refund / partial refunds' on early settled ppi to be unfair under the Unfair Consumer Contract Terms Regulations 1999 - in other words GE's regulator is saying their contract terms are unfair and even if you have to go to court this is by far the strongest backing you'll have. The link to the relevant document is Refunds of Single Premium Payment Protection Insurance write to them and ask what % was repaid to you, copy this document and tell them they've acted unfairly under the UCCTR 1999 and you'll start court proceedings if you don't get recompence plus 8% statutory interest - state given the FSA ruling you've no doubt about your success in court
Tiggrae - Thank you, Thank you, I will draft a letter tonight or tomorrow and send it recorded delivery on Monday. Thanks loads i will keep you updated.Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -
I wrote to yorkshire bank (using template from martins site) asking for repayment of ppi insurance as i felt i had been missold as i am self employed. This was sent to them on october 5th 2007.Since then all i have had back from them are letters telling me they are looking into the matter and would supply me with their findings within four weeks, but everytime the four weeks are up i just recieve another letter saying that it is taking longer than expected and they hope to get in touch with me in the next four weeks.I have just recieved another one. What route should i now take. Many thanks to who can give advice0

Write to them again stating that you have given them enough time to look into the matter and give them 14 days to send you their final response, otherwise you will complain to the financial ombudsman. You could also threaten court action if they dont reply.0 -
the clydesdale & sister Yorkshire are the worst bank EVER for not responding, they don't have the staff - send your complaint direct to the FOS if they don't respond after 8 weeks
Tiggrae,
Thanks for this, that was my plans anyway, and if necessary I'm prepared to go to Court too, and as the Quality UNit is based in Leeds, I'm going to do it through the Courts down there again if necessary, don't mind travelling!:beer:Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
My complaint with First Plus (single premium) is now with the Ombudsman, I really thought that after the five years that they would come back to me and sort out new protection (they say I understood this was not the case) I never. Why would anyone pay for something longer than they were covered for (I might be daft but not that daft) Also the joint cover only covers my husband (hello this is a joint loan meaning me and him) It is nothing more than a money making process for them I only ask to borrow £29,000 not £37,000 their sales people are very clever, I tried to cancel it when I came to my senses and was told that nothing would really change I could cancel but would only make pence difference to my monthly payments and nothing back I might as well wait 5 years and get it all back (less this and less that and less abit more). Umm just sounding off feel better now.
Good luck I have just sent my third letter back to First Plus after receiving a pretty insignificant (well it all helps) rebate offer. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Another question for you guys out there please. I have today received a letter from a store card company telling me that my card has been inactive since December 1999 and that because of this, they are unable to provide me with any information about the card as it is over 6 years ago. I have the statement for December 1999 and there was still a balance on it, so not sure how it can have been inactive at that point. My question is, is there any point in continuing or could this just be a ploy to fob me off. They have given me a further address to write to if i am still unhappy. Any thoughts?
