I note that Nationwide has a limit of four accounts per person.
My wife has Power of Attorney for both her parents who each have a FlexDirect in their own names. She applied for a joint account for them but this was refused because my wife has her own FlexDirect plus a joint account. According to Nationwide, this would break their limit as my wife would have "access" to more than four accounts. This does not make sense to me as my wife’s money is in her named accounts and her parents’ money is obviously in their named accounts. No individual has more than four accounts.
This seems a bit bureaucratic. Has anyone had any similar experience or maybe the Nationwide rep would like to comment please.

What nationwide rep? I only know of the Lloyds one being active at least.0

Was that reply in a branch? I'd be inclined to take it higher as you rightly point out the PoA only allows your wife to help administer her parents affairs and she isn't named on the account.0

"According to Nationwide" in writing, or "According to Nationwide" because that's what someone said in branch while trying to be helpful?According to Nationwide, this would break their limit as my wife would have "access" to more than four accounts.
Might be worth tweeting @AskNationwide, their replies are fast and accurate.0
