Best Travel Insurance deals? Annual or Single Trip?

Probably a bit of a generic question from the title!

But I am looking for Travel Insurance to NYC (so Worldwide in Insurance terms) for a two week holiday.

Is it better to pick just the one 2 week holiday for cover or actually cheaper and better to do Annual?

I haven't gotten Travel Insurance for a while, but remember around 14 months ago, I got a 1 year worldwide for around £40?

I have tried the usual Comparison sites, but just thought I'd ask here for any tips or tricks before buying or if there were any offers on that i've missed ?

Thank you

Have a look at Martin's recommendations

I'd say that it's cheaper to just insure for the time you're going (obviously too late now to cover booking etc) as you 'haven't gotten travel insurance for a while' it doesn't sound like you're a frequent traveller so would be unlikely to make use of an annual policy.

For a single trip then single trip is most likely to be cheapest and would avoid the renewal issues if your booking more than a year in advance.

If you are doing more than one trip a year then annual policies are often cheapest.

We had a free European insurance from the bank but never bothered with it as I always took out an annual worldwide policy from MSE. As already suggested by maman. However, I recently took advantage of the bank insurance, an annual, worldwide policy for a couple cost just £40. But you do have to have so much (I think it's £750 at least) going through your account every month in order to get this policy.

I agree it's certainly worth looking into whether to have one of those package bank accounts with travel insurance included. We used the travel insurance on DH's account for years. Unfortunately the annual fee kept going up until it overtook the cost of buying the 'perks' separately to say nothing of those we didn't need. Since then we take out an annual policy and DH changed his account.
