Yay, we had our mortgage approved today........took just 2 wks 5 days via broker.

BUT.........as of 5 days ago our solicitor has not even received a written acceptance of our offer! They accepted our offer (verbally) 3 weeks and 2 days ago! We called the sellers estate agent on monday to ask them what the problem was. They got back to us and told us their solicitors were preparing some papers to send out at the end of last week....

Have not spoken to solicitor since Monday so they might have received them by now, but he did say last week that it was unusual to take so long, but he knows some solicitors like to wait til they have various papers together before sending them off.

Sounds strange? Maybe the buyers are not wanting to sell anymore? Will go try chase up again! I am in Scotland.

I've known such delays to happen because the estate agent has forgotten to send the offer on to the solicitors...(or it might genuinely have gone astray). Doubt it's anything to worry about.

Solicitors have received a pack of stuff yesterday, including title deeds. I seriously thought sellers were changing their minds to sell and just delaying things!

What a relief Ellie! A huge thing not to have to worry about now.

    Thanks!

Yes, we were confident we would get the mortgage but just wondered how long it would take!

So, the finance is all ready to go, but since the solicitor really just received the pack on Tuesday I dont know how long it would take for him to do his bit as thats all we really need now!

The seller is not buying, moving into rented accom.

We had offered an entry date of 18th June so I would think that would certainly be do-able!

    Phew!

Great news ellie27!! Congratulations on getting your mortgage offered as well  .We also had our mortgage offered yesterday, rang the Solicitor to instruct to proceed with the searches to then be told that they have received the memorandum of sale from the EA, however they haven't received the contract from the vendors Solicitors so they won't be able to proceed with the searches!! Crossing my fingers that they arrive soon. :(
