Hi,
Looking for some self catering accomodation in France. I have a 8 month year old baby so it needs to be 'child friendly'.
Does anybody know any good travel companies? It seems that the main stream travel companies don't go to France.
Thanks very much :-)

::) Hi, we have been travelling to france on self catering holidays for many years. What you have to do is to decide in January where you want to go in summer. Yiu then find out the local tourist inforamtion/ estate agents via web and ask for a list of local holiday lets. Most of them do have holiday lets. These are much cheaper then going via a tour operator. We have been to La Baule, Sables d'olonne Royan, Evian , Belgium .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Bunny,
You don't have to book as far ahead as January. There are plenty of websites with loads of gites and bed-and-breakfast places listed, many of which have vacancies.
I may be able to offer further advice if you could let me know the time of year you'd like to travel, and how you intend to travel (flight + hire car; train; own car; etc).
It would also assist if you could say which part(s) of France you are considering: do you want busy, touristy areas, or peace-and-quiet areas, for instance?Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
We have stayed in lots of self catering places in France and we like Pierre et Vacances best. (https://www.pierreetvacances.fr) Also Allez France are good. I have just booked for 6 of us (4 kids) in August, so you don't have to book ages ahead. Its not cheap though!
We stayed at a place called Cap Esterel in South France when my baby was only 8 weeks old plus 4 other children!! It was excellent! Huge place, though!

I booked a cottage a few years ago with gites -de- france, however the cottage was very pretty, but smelt strongly of damp. While their accommodation is graded, its privately rented and therefore not subject to inspection as a travel agent recommended accommodation would be,if you see what i mean.Standards of cleanliness in the kitchen also was rather deficient.0

Try https://www.toddlerholiday.com they cater to the under 5's and they look really good. They have a site in normandy staying in cottages they also have a playroom for the kids.
