I could not find my conveyancer 's name in the CLC list, is this a problem, please?

I'm purchasing a house recently. I can find my conveyancer 's company in the CLC list, but I can't find my conveyancer's name in the list. The CLC website is shown as follows:

https://www.clc-uk.org.uk/

I 'm wondering is this a big problem? Do all conveyancers should have registered in the CLC? Or people only need to have a Law degree to be a conveyancer?

Thanks for your help.

Maybe he's a solicitor, not a licenced conveyancer?

Maybe he's a trainee, or admin staff, overseen by a solicitor/licenced conveyancer?

So people do not have to be licensed by CLC in order to work as a conceyancer, right?

No - you can have solicitors (who will be registered with the SRA) and also people with no registrations etc but qualified by experience.

    ??????????????

Any old bod, with or without experience, can do conveyancing. But they cannot charge money for it.

If they charge money they must be qualified as a solicitor, legal executive, or as a licenced conveyancer.

However, where a firm is charging the money, not every individual in the firm needs to be qualified. provided there is someone qulaified 'overseeing' the work, the actual day-to-day activity can be done by unlicenced people

GM - sorry you are right on that respect and I should have been clearer - if you go looking for Mr Jones your named contact they may not be registered but in that case the firm he works for will need to have someone registered supervising (although in practice this supervision can be pretty nominal).

I think I won't transfer my money to my conveyancer 's account. I transferred my initial payment to the company's account.

Thank you for your comments, very helpful.

He was asking you to transfer money into his personal account???

Run a mile. Get a new conveyancer (and I don't mean from within that firm).
