Croydon County Court Success!!!

Me vs Abbey

I phoned the court yesterday to find out if I needed to attend today and was told that Abbey had requested a stay on all their cases, I would need to attend but they would probably issue a stay.

To my surprise today, I attended court and the judge said they(judges at croydon) had been told to deal with each case individually. Abbey had written in requesting a stay, but as I had obviously worked so hard on my bundle (Thanks everyone!!) and Abbey had not even bothered to show, he granted then judgement in my favour!!!! Shock horror. He did not even want to go through my paperwork, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

So after 7 months of fighting the court have ruled in my favour in the sum of £2,229 incl interest and court costs.

Not quite sure what I need to do now , but I'm just so pleased.

Thanks to everyone on here for their help and support and all the bits needed for the bundle. I have to say he was very impressed with the bundle and even asked me if I had a legal background. When I told him I did not, he asked if I'd help, to which I replied yes!!!

Hope this post helps with those going to court over the net few weeks, and good luck to you all.

Any help with my next steps would be much appreciated.

Well done . I suspect that Abbey will try and get judgment set aside. Problem they will have is explaining why they did not turn up it is not as if they did not know about the hearing.
As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person

Thanks Stokey, does that mean I have to go back to court, and do the courts usually grant it???

To get a judgment set aside they would have to prove they have an arguable defence to the claim and they would need to explain why they failed to turn up. If they make an application you would have to turn up. As to whether it will get it set aside is not an easy question to answer as it is something with in the court's discretion so depends on the judge.
