O/S Daily Wednesday 13th May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, no cloud and sun shining, air feels rather cool though, hopefully it’ll warm up.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was HM potato wedges, chicken dippers, cous cous, and HM coleslaw, dessert was HM apple and pear crumble and custard for those that wanted some, a couple of small portions left are in the fridge. Remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, so tonight’s dinner will be either chicken and mushroom pie, mash, and veg or chicken and mushrooms in a white wine sauce with egg fried rice, it’s likely I’ll go for the pie option as I have the pastry in the fridge and it needs using up. WM engineer coming out today, dad’s coming over this morning to sit at mine so if he arrives whilst I’m at work dad can let him in, will have to wait and see what he says, doesn’t look or sound good to me though!

Work yesterday was horrendous again, but am doing a different job today and that has been not so busy the last couple of days, so hoping for a slightly easier day. I’m only working until lunchtime though so not so bad, and I’m then on annual leave until the Tuesday after Bank holiday Monday, so going to make sure I get some R&R and do some jobs that will make my life easier (probably do some batch cooking and freezing) for the days I’m at work so it can easy dinners.

    Have good Wednesdays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Hugs to Molly, LW, Elona & anyone else in need.
Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa & I have toast & marmite & a cuppa, neither of which I'm allowed according to the practice nurse, hey ho, I can't face coke & broccoli for breakfast.
I'm off to work in a sec, I collected my new glasses yesterday, it will take a while to get used to them I think.
I'm helping DD with the DGC's school fete so I'm surrounded by boxes of prizes, table cloths, handicrafts and other stuff, roll on Saturday when I get my living room back.
I've made 2 more ebay sales so that's a few more pennies in the coffers.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Dinner tonight will be some kind of pasta I have loads of little bits left over, including bacon, a few mushrooms, asparagus, chorizo and some crème fraiche, will make something up out of them.

Shopping done last night, so at least that's out of the way, need to do a wash tonight and have a sweep through downstairs.

HH - Are you sure the practice nurse knows what they are talking about? Your diet seems to be a bit too restricted.

The sun is shining at last, hoping for a dry day, my bedding is out on the line already, I'll put another load on when I've had a shower, DD is off today so she can put it out.

Hoping to get the grass cut after work, all this rain has resulted in a grass explosion out there!

Something with mince for tea, I'll see what I feel like cooking later.

Went for a lovely long walk yesterday after work, got some food waste bags from the library on the way, it only rained a couple of times so not too bad, hoping for another walk tonight.

Hugs to those in need, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone

It's looking like it's going to be a nice day today weatherwise at least. I couldn't sleep so got up at 2am and came downstairs to check my emails. How excited was I when I had one from the National Lottery. I needed to sign in to see what I'd won but unfortunately I couldn't as they were shut between 2 and 5 for maintenance or something. My mind was in overdrive so I spent time on RightMove looking for a new house:D:D. I went back to bed at 4.45am and spent an hour or so dreaming of all the lifestyle changes we could have. I came back down and signed in and found I had won £7.20 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. Good job I didn't tell hubby to hand his notice in :D:D. Oh well, it was nice to dream.

I am making sausage and chorizo casserole tonight with new potatoes and broccoli. Last night's fish pie went down surprisingly well with the kids and hubby. Just one DD opted out and made herself noodles instead so I was pleased with that. I have a friend popping round with her hubby at lunch time so I can sign some paperwork for them so I will make a lemon drizzle cake to have with a cup of tea.

I hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone.

Day could well be brighter and drier than yesterday. The poor roofer was so well wrapped up I hardly recognised him. He won't accept any of my offers of hot drinks, he brings a flask and just gets on with the work. It's a big job but he's doing well, showed me a photo of a huge hole inside the chimney and there's a lot more. It's a very old building so work is always needed.

Got the man from the woodburner coming out to fix a strange problem, one of the door pins keeps coming loose and working its way out. I'll also change the bedding today as OH is away working and I'm off to Glasgow tomorrow until Friday.

Enough wittering on, must hit the shower and start my day.

I hope everyone is doing well.

    Morning all,

Weather is fine at the moment, but I understand it is changing tomorrow.

Have just cooked some rhubarb for dessert tonight. Friend brought loads down last week, and I have already used some, but to my shame digging down in the freezer I still have a big bag from last year.

Went to a Wet*erspoons last night to celebrate a couple of birthdays and had a lovely time. Good company and a good steak was eaten. It isn't very often I go out in the evening but I did enjoy myself, although I am hoarse this morning trying to talk above the noise.

Elona I am sure everything will go well on Saturday and you will do DH proud. You have all put a great deal of thought into the planning of it. I will be thinking of you all.

    Have a good day

    Morning all,

lots to do in the house today as I didn't do much yesterday. I'm struggling with my diet at the moment. Trying so hard to get into a normal healthy eating routine but its not happening. I want what I shouldn't have unfortunately and need loads of self control. It doesn't help that hubby has left lots of chocolate around after the weekend.... he's appreciating food more than he's ever done and he's turning into a bit of a feeder.

On the hunt for a cheap wedding ring today after someone at the wedding referred to hubby as my 'partner'. Apparently she had noticed I wasn't wearing a wedding ring. I'd been meaning to get one for ages after my last ring was stolen along with my original wedding ring. My budget is £70 (which isn't a lot) and I want it in white gold.

Not heard from either daughters yet this morning but ive heard from 'Youngest'. It looks like he's having better day than he did yesterday.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

Just about to get dressed and go downstairs. Have put ointment on my sore back so that should help and cleaners are due between 10 and 11 this morning.

Need to grab a cuppa and toast and load dishwasher as well as clear a few surfaces.

No idea what to cook tonight but have masses of eggs so maybe a quiche with salad.

    Hugs to all.

  • Afternoon, (((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

We have just got back from our one night jolly to Oxford. Had a great day yesterday with my friends from the US, lots of goodies in the form of fabric have come home with me. We stayed at the Travel Lodge in the outskirts, very nice, clean room with a decent bed, so a good nights sleep for both of us.

Reasonable journey home, the traffic coming into Oxford was horrendous and the M40 and M1 were both busy.

It was bright and sunny in Oxford, its grey and cloudy here. No matter.
