Income protection advice

Hi guys - looking a bit of advice on income protection.
Between myself and my partner income protection is around £45-50 per month for us both. I was advised to get it but I'm not too sure. It doesn't kick in until your out of work for 12 weeks. I'm in a job where I can work from home if neccessary. I was recently on crutches And worked 2 weeks from home.
We also don't have a big mortgage and if either myself or my partner weren't able to work - one of us could manage the mortgage.
We're going to get critical illness/life insurance but I'm thinking Id be better saving the income protection money. Am I missing something?

If you sold the property and moved to rented you'd have some cash in hand to cover any mishaps that may orise.0
