Ticket for parking in a "Minibus" space

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be kind. I have looked through the newbies section but want to make sure i'm clear on what to do as i'm very angry at being given this ticket.

I was visiting a candidate in college (where parking spaces are at a minimum) and apparently parked in a "minibus only" space. I returned to find a ticket from Millennium Parking Services for £100 or £60 if paid within 14 days.

I am angry at the poor signage (the sign was almost horizontal) and the fact a was assessing a candidate. The college say it's out of their hands and to take it up with them. Am i right in thinking i should appeal and use the templates from the newbie section?

Thanks in advance

Small fry operator. Wait for the NtK - days 29 to 56 after the parking event. Then follow NEWBIES FAQ sticky. Remember - wait, they might well screw that part of the process up, giving you, as RK, more advantage.

No evidence of them taking anything further to Small Claims Court procedures.

Whilst waiting for the NtK and the other good advice in reading up on the newbies threads I would do some ground work. Take photographs of the inadequate signs before they have chance to rectify them.I would also speak to the principal and find out who owns the land and employs the parking company. If it is the college who "employs" them to do their dirty work they can cancel tickets it's their decision

  • Hi all,

I've received an "outstanding Parking Charge Notice" for the full amount of £150 from (PCS) Parking collection services. It stated that I have 28 days to pay the full amount but was sent 72 days after the parking charge date.

I have taken pictures of the incredibly poor sign-age and was wondering how i should handle it from here please?

That notice was sent too late for them to have established a right to pursue the Keeper ( they haven't complied with statutory requirements of POFA 2012 Schedule 4 - see paragraphs 7 and 8).

Doesn't mean they won't still try but they would only have a lawful right to pursue the driver - they do not know who that is and you are not obliged to tell them.

Have a read of the **NEWBIES!! sticky thread and look out for the first appeal template (highlighted in blue).

Submit that as it stands from the Keeper

Save your photos for the 2nd stage appeal to POPLA when they reject your appeal
  • Yes, i will send the appeal as per the NEWBIES instructions but i have 2 questions if that's okay:

    1) Who should i appeal to. Millennium Parking Services or Parking Collection Services?

    2) Should I add in the statutory requirements of POFA 2012 Schedule 4. In that the notice to owner was sent 72 days after the initial incident.?

    Thank you.

Millennium Door & Event Security Ltd t/as Millennium Parking Services are BPA AOS members. Is that who issued the original ticket, pompeyvhimes?
  • Yes, Millennium Parking Services issues the initial ticket and Parking Collection service issued the Outstanding parking charge notice.

the driver must have parked really well to get an outstanding grade with their parking, send them a message of thanks, and ask how they will pay the driver the prize for their excellent, and outstanding parking.

    1) I would send it to both Millennium, as they are the PPC, and a copy to Parking Collection Services (who they just use as a back office function)

    2) Yes you could amend point d) if you like to something like

d). Your 'Notice' was issued 72 days after the alleged parking event and fails to comply with the POFA so there can be no keeper liability.
  • Hi all,

I've received a rejection of my appeal email (despite my request for a postal reply) but they have provided me with a verification code for my POPLA appeal.

My main grounds for appeal are the incredibly poor signage and minibus reserved parking is just absurd! I can't find a template appeal letter that would suit my appeal. is there a basic one that anyone knows of that I could amend please?
