This is probably a stupid question but apart from myspace, is there a site that lets you listen to (not recent) songs for free? I don't want to download them just listen to them, surely Myspace can't be the only one?

Here's an excellent one. Many minor/unsigned groups but there's some real gems on there, especially in the electronic/trance section.

I used to like Pandora, but it's virtually impossible to listen to the exact song you want - it'll only play a sample. The sound quality's very good though compared to most other sites.
My present favourite is SoundPedia, where I can listen to 95%+ of songs I want to in full, & features virtually every mainstream artist/group. G
Edit: Streaming on SoundPedia is temporarily suspended while the site is undergoing a major upgrade.0 -
You might want to try http://www.radioblogclub.com it lets you pick any song/artist or title you can think of, and plays the track, I have tried to search for a song it hasnt actually got, but upto now, its found them all and plays the full track back to you. You cant go wrong with it

Technically you can only use Pandora if you live in the United States but it doesn't check your IP address or anything so its fine.
I always used to use Pandora but I always find that after about 10 songs it starts to play crap nothing like the original artist, I know its supposed to find 'new music/styles' for you that are similar. As I say I always find it turns rubbish after a few songs on every artist.
Personally I much prefer the www.last.fm radio player. You type in a similar artist in the same way that you do on Pandora or musical style and it will do the same thing but I find that it stick the genre/artist style much better so I prefer that.
I usually use the Last FM one at work as myspace etc isn't available, discovered that I could even install the last fm player on my work machine so have done that (wouldn't have usually downloaded a program but the girl that sits opposite me downloaded Azureus and obtained the new Harry Potter book as well as streaming illegal versions of famous cartoons during her lunch break and shes still at the company - unbelievable, my last fm player shouldn't open up the network to possible hackers at least!).
Most people do but incase you don't know about Last Fm, it has a plugin that 'scrobbles' what you listen to on your computer when you install the plugin for your media player. Not the most vital thing in the world but interesting to see what you've listened to over the past week and your all time most listened tracks and artists as well as what your friends are listening too.0
