Giong to missed connecting flight now airline has changed my flight time

Hi,

So looking for some friendly advice here!

Background story:
I live in Aberdeen, Scotland and have booked a holiday to Rhodes via Travel Republic. The holiday and flights (Return to Rhodes) leave from London (GTW) on the 1st of July. When I booked this holiday the flights bought were for 21:00 on the 1st of July.
As I live in Aberdeen I decided to book a separate connecting flight on EasyJet from Aberdeen to London (GTW) On the 1st of July - This gets me in about 12:00pm with plenty of time to catch my other flight to Rhodes.

So Avro who the Rhodes flights are booked through have suddenly decided to change my flight time to 09:00am on the 1st, meaning my easy Jet flight no longer gets me in on time to make that flight.

Yes I know these are booked separate and it was taking a risk, but I booked flights based on advertised times!

I've checked all options and doesn't look like any changes in flights etc can help me make that flight!

Is there anything I can do?? Refund, compensation etc etc??

Thanks very much!

EasyJet flights are easily changeable, so change them as appropriate.

You can contact Avro and ask them whether they can offer you a different flight time: they might choose to be helpful, but have the right to refuse.

I think the moral is that you should buy a ticket from Scotland.

First Easyjet flight from Aberdeen to LGW on July 1st arrives 1 hour 10 minutes after the new departure time to Rhodes (and I'd hazard a guess is the flight that the OP is already booked on).

OP, I think you'll need to book onto the evening flight the day before (£35.99 at the moment) and crash at the airport (if they let you do that at Gatwick, if not you'll have to find the cheapest local overnight option) until your departure time.

I did say 'change them as appropriate' which may be the day before as you suggest. There's a bloc hotel at gatwick.

The Premier Inn is only £45 that night.

    I've been Money Tipped!
OP book the cheaper flight day before as others have suggested and book into hotel overnight, then fight the battle, but seriously OP how much are we talking here? Yes, in principle I agree with you that they should've stuck to advertised times, but I cannot believe you're considering cancelling?

Suck it up and make alternative arrangements and go on your much anticipated holiday or you could cancel/request a refund and lose £££££ and then spend time, money, effort trying to get compensated, you should weigh up what's more important to you?

Personally I'd fly out night before, book into Premier Inn and go have a FAB holiday! Good Luck

Alternatively, see if you can get a "bargain berth" on the sleeper train to London. That way, you have no extra hotel cost and do not need to waste any time getting to London.

Avro's T&Cs state that they will offer a full refund for significant changes, and a significant change is when a flight time is moved by more than 12 hours. So this hangs on what the exact times are, because if its 9pm to 9am then that's not more than 12 hours so your stuck.

Even if you can get a refund from Avro for the flights, your hotel booking with Travel Republic would still exist and is considered separate so you'd have to see if that could be cancelled or arrange alternative flights.

If you are stuck with the new flight times, one positive is they are now daytime flights which are a lot better. Maybe easyJet will help you with changing the booking to the night before.

Don't forget the positives as well! Instead of arriving late at night, you now get an extra afternoon/evening of holiday.
