Can companies pay Google to circumvent the spam filter (gmail)?

I have a gmail account and it's generally very good, in that I don't see any spam apart from that from Google itself (which I don't mind as they are giving the service free).
There is one company, though, who keep sending me emails about 'reports' that they think I might be interested in. This happens about once a fortnight, and, even though they all come from the same email address and I religiously click the spam button, Google will not filter them out.
It's not a major problem but it's annoying to continually click on a button as instructed only to have it ignored.

Interesting.
Have you succeeded in getting it to block senders in the past?
Generally speaking, spam doesn't seem to be much of a problem, nowadays as ISP's and email providers appear to be able to block it before you even see it.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Do the emails all come from the exact email address? Sometimes you only block the specific sender and not the actual domain.0

Add a filter to bin mails from that address0

Make sure you haven't mistakenly whitelisted the address, that would override any spam filter.0
