O/S Daily Tuesday 12th May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy and a bit overcast but hopefully it’ll warm up – yesterday started the same and then was glorious. WM has something wrong with it – it’s become really really noisy when spinning and I’m getting what looks like rust marks on some clothes, have an engineer coming out tomorrow as have an extended warranty on it.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and beans, ice cream or yogurt for dessert. Tonight we’ll be having roasted veg tart, jacket potatoes, HM coleslaw, cous cous and chicken dippers for the menfolk.

Work was as expected, but then did have a while in the afternoon where we managed to catch up but we turned several people away and also some didn’t want to wait when told how many people were in the queue in front of them. Expecting it to be busy today as loads are coming back, deep joy!

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone.

Raining here but it's brightening up already. Yesterday the weather was just weird, bright and very windy with two very sudden and very hard rain bursts. From sunshine to torrential rain in five seconds.

In the afternoon there were two huge Hercules planes in the sky. They trundled past very slowly and then one suddenly had about seven blokes parachuted out of it! No idea who or why.

My online course started well yesterday and I zoomed through one of the seven modules. I know more than I thought I did. Always good. Will do more today.

There are a bunch of swallows sitting on the BT wire attached to the house which is just outside the bedroom window. If I lie flat I can see them.

Right, will start my dat soon. Roofer spent a long time in the attached steading doing pointing, if the weather stays clear he'll start on the front roof were it joins the main house.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning All

Quite bright here but very windy, yesterday turned out to be ok after a damp start, let's see how many seasons we can have today!

Had to go shopping last night for things I can't get at Ald!, went to Asd@ and it was fairly quiet at 8pm, must remember that. A friend's Dad died on Friday so got her some flowers from a few of us and dropped them off, didn't get home till about 9pm, had only been home to cook DD some tea. It seemed like a very long day.

Anyway, I slept quite well and my legs aren't as sore this morning, must go for a good walk this evening to loosen them off.

Not sure what's for tea today, will look in the freezer. I have salad for lunch and DD has a training day so gets fed - always a bonus!

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bit rainy this morning but it's supposed to brighten up later which will be nice for me as I am supposed to go out with my support worker this afternoon. Don't know where we will end up today as I don't really want to go out after a stressy day yesterday.

I've taken out some fish to make a fish pie for tea, I expect there will be some moaning but we haven't had it for absolutely ages and I really like it. I will probably do some green beans to go with it too.

The fridge freezer has gone hooray! The delivery guys were a bit grumpy as it was very difficult to get it out of the house but once it had left the building, I heaved a sigh of relief and made a medicinal cup of tea :D.

I sorted out my notebooks this morning, I have a slight obsession with collecting beautiful books but I never know what to write in them. I have a daily book in which I put meal plans and a recipe book in which I write recipes from this website that catch my eye but I don't really know what else to do with them.

Well, that's all my waffle for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good Morning chums ,beautiful day at the moment in the Garden of Kent, how long it lasts who knows :) But dry and bright at least .I have a chair chap coming to see if he can repair my recliner chair as thespring 'pinged' the other night so the footrest is just floppy and won't stay down.Got to be cheaper than buying a new recliner(hopefully)
DGS Jack is doing his GCSE in science this morning so I am going to make him a victoria sponge cake ,it apparently has extremely recouperative powers when you are doing exams :):):) (according to jack anyway ) plus Mikey is doing his SATS this week at school.
In my capacity of Grandma I am there to soothe fevered brows and give lots of There, There's out :):):)to stressed little boys .
Quiz night tonight so I don't have to cook for myself, lunch will be salad and cold cooked cumberland sausage that is in the fridge and needs using up today.
I have to phone EDF as well today to ask for some of the £265 overpayment that's on my account for the end of the year.I see no reason why they should hang onto so much of my cash for another year just in case I may use it !!! I wouldn't overpay sainsburys by that amount just in case the price of food went up in the coming year :0
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

Seem to have hurt my back moving mattress topper and legs are really stiff so walking rather like a crab!!!

Trying to take things easy but had to drag bin out for collection this morning ( must remember gravel surface is not ideal).

Phone lawyer to ask for certified copy of will to send with other docs to DH's company pension people. Waiting in for someone who was supposed to arrive at ten this morning to do the garden but no sign so far.

Washing machine has just finished and dishwasher is loaded and had a quick shower and shampoo early this morning. Scrambled egg and toast for breakfast and need to clear out the fridge as much as possible to make room for buffet food on Saturday after the service.

    Hugs to all

Just having a motivating cup of coffee before putting all the recipe books back on the kitchen shelf; it was a two-person task putting the shelf back up, so I got Mr LW to help me do that last night, but the rest, including putting the meds cupboard back up, I can do myself.

The meds cupboard is the old bathroom cupboard (replaced with a larger one when I moved in here) but instead of ditching the old one, I use it to keep our prescription meds, separate from everything else. I have 6 items on prescription, and Mr LW now has 3, so they need a cupboard of their own.

So that's the two big walls in the kitchen all nicely repainted; we still have the rest to do, which is going to be fiddly, time-consuming and tiring, but we're getting there.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon all,

a later post from me today. Ive been to see Mom. She's unwell with another UTI and although she's on antibiotics she's sleepy.

My brothers fianc! has been making waves. They have provided a chair for Mom to sit in. One look at it and I knew it wouldn't be suitable. Its too big and Mom is a small woman. The arms are too wide, the seat is too deep. Not surprising, Mom doesn't like it. She needs something around her to comfort her.

The girls are doing well with the fund raising. They raised £3000 yesterday and have more contacts for similar events. Pictures are here:

Popped into the library on the way back. Last time I used the library was 10 years ago so ive had to rejoin. Disgusted to see the non fiction section has shrunk to make way for books written in other languages.

Took me ages to walk back from Moms..... Need to give myself a kick up the backside. Back to healthy, calorie controlled meals and get my stamina back to what it was at least.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.
