UKCPS Payments

Ok guys,

So I've seen some threads on this but nothing with anyone who has actually made a payment.

So I've got a load of parking tickets issued by the dreaded UKCPS, 14 to be exact.

Today I rang the debt collectors and stupidly made a payment of £70 to get them off my back as I'm fed up of getting loads of threatening letters everyday saying their taking me to court. They said they've now frozen my owed amount and I should now ring up every month and pay how much I think I can.

Could I now just leave it and never call them again? Or now I've made a payment have I admitted I've done something wrong?

do they hold a credit licence ?

    get that offer in print
  • I'm not sure, that's another thing. They sent me no confirmation email or anything. Just a reference number!

    its another SERIOUS thing

"You do not need a consumer credit licence to accept payment by credit card (unless you issue the card yourself). You can allow customers to pay in four or fewer instalments, within a year, without needing a consumer credit licence."

Offering consumer credit without a consumer credit licence is a criminal offence. As well as facing a fine or even imprisonment, any credit agreement will be unenforceable

so make sure you do not pay by credit card (not sure about debit cards) , and make sure its over a period exceeding 4 payments in a twelve month period

although why you are paying them I don't know

get a payment plan emailed to you , this could get nasty for them
  • I paid with a debit card and it will be over 12 months. It just seems so unprofessional them telling me to just ring up next month, ask for Sarah and pay how much I can. No agreement in writing, no email confirmation or anything. I will ring them tomorrow and say unless it's in writing I'm not paying anything else and I guess I'll see you in court
