    You don't invest for interest.

Savings get interest. Investments get dividends and capital growth.

So which is it you're looking for?

(waiting for the reply pumping some website....)

What are you saving for, how long are you saving for, what access do you need to the money, what is your tax rate, what emergency funds do you have, how much of the money would be acceptable to lose, what pension arrangements do you have, how old are you, what if any debts do you have etc etc etc etc are all the usual questions that people ned to answer before they can expect any sensible response to question like yours.

Get the best odds on the 3:30 at Kempton Park?
All on black at a roulette wheel?

Given the paucity of information that you are willing to share then these are viable options.

Is this for your own investment, in which case, the above questions need answering first.

If you are simply making a generalised study or it is an exam question, then a little more study may help and there is a lot of information in this forum that may help.

    What a coincidence.
£50k qualifies for HSBC Premier account.

    The cash ISA is 1.6%.

The InvestDirect account is quite good for holding shares long term, as there are no annual fees.

They have a 1.99% 5 year Fixed mortgage which is in the Best Buys at the moment.

This reminds me of people who post on the Motoring board; 'Hi Guys, I need a new car, what should I buy?'

If you want to invest for interest, you're pretty much restricted to bonds, and junk bonds pay the highest interest. They also have the highest chance of losing your capital.

If you'd rather save the money with a bank, you can get over 3% AER on that sum in multiple current accounts.
See the link near the top of the page, and multiple threads where others have asked much the same question as you.
