Prepayment to regular meter query

  • You can do either - get sse to change meter then switch, or switch first then get Npower to remove meters. Makes no difference.

    Yes you'll have to pay, about 60 per meter

    You won't necessarily have to pay. We had this situation but we were with BG. I protested to BG about the fee and they waived it (I argued that we hadn't had the prepayment meters fitted so it was unfair). We then switched once the meters had been removed.

    No guarantees but it's worth a try.

    EDF don't charge. I've changed the gas to them first and they are changing the meter next week. It has taken an absolute age to get the account changed over to EDF though. So if you are able, it would be quickest to get the meter changed before moving to the company you want to be with.
