in Credit cards
Just looking at the 123 credit card and looked on their web site for supermarkets in my area where I can get the cash back on. I'm amazed that my local Sainsburys and Tesco are not on Santanders list. Does is not include all major Tesco & Sainsburys? Anyone else come across this? Thanks

Hello,
I've just looked up Tesco and Sainsbury's here in Derby and both stores qualify for the 1% and 3% cash back (respectively.)
Whereabouts are you? Does seem strange...It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I wouldn't put too much faith in the search tool. It just says "TESCO - SHEFFIELD" when you search for Sheffield, but that's pretty useless considering how many tescos there are in Sheffield! I think most 'normal' supermarkets are covered.0

I assume they use the MCC as other cash back cards do rather than knowing exactly where you spend.0

Merchant Category code. Its a code used by American Express, Visa and MasterCard to define the type of business a merchant is. Sometimes all the card networks will give one business a different code though (Something to watch out). For example, American Express puts M&S as a department store, whereas MasterCard defines it as a supermarket.0 -
Which is why Santander offer 1% at M&S rather than the 2% like they do at Debenhams.
Interestingly enough where I work is listed on the list however someone who uses us reckons they never received any... Have used it myself recently so will be interesting to see what happens on my statement. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history.
