sellers solicitors

Good afternoon we completed on our house sale 6th March. Still waiting for same solicitor to complete on property we wish to buy.first up its a leasehold masonette in over 55 complex, the man we are buying from has a very poor solicitor so much so our solicitor has said although he wouldn't normally say anything about another company he said they were incompetent, he has only just received the legal pack to start looking at this last week! As sellers solicitors admitted he didnt know how to do leasehold. We in the mean time are staying with family which started off as a couple of weeks and is now coming up to 3 months.our solicitor also has the sale money from our house, which I believe we can't claim any interest off it.feeling desperate now.could we ask for compensation from sellers solicitors for making so many mistakes and causing such a long delay.thanks lynne

    You can ask. They'll refuse.

As you are not their client, and have no contract with them, you cannot either make a professional complaint or seek compensation in court.

Only option would be to tell the seller to change solicitors or you'll withdraw from the purchase (though this too would cause a delay).

Seller will either agree or not.
