Transactions dissapearing

I bank with Metro and have a basic account, can't go overdrawn etc. I check my bank account most days and i keep a spreadsheet which i always update at the same time. When i got paid on the 30th March i paid some bills, did some shopping etc etc. These all went to pending as usual and i put them on my spreadsheet. I checked my account last Thursday and all was fine. I checked it again today, knowing i'd barely used it over the weekend. A bunch of these have gone from pending, are not on my main statement and the money is back in my account. I can't remember if any of them cleared from pending but i would've thought so as it was over a week and they normally clear in a few days.

I'm going to keep the money in the same account, but i have a few questions.

How long legally do they have to request the money back from my bank?

Has anybody else seen anything like this? I have not seen this happen before.

    6 months - it's Visa/Masterard rules, not a law.

OK, thanks. Think i'll levae the money in there for now. Then if they've not taken it i'll move it to another account for 6 months and see what happens.

    30 March or 30 April?

Regardless, it is actually quite common and just means the retailer (or their bank) has delayed collecting the funds for some reason - they will still do so eventually and you legally still owe the money to them.

Sorry, yeah, 30th May. The thing i find strange about it is it's quite a few different retailers. I could maybe understand 1, but there is probably 10 different retailers.
