Making an offer when you have yet to sell.

Thanks for the update. What is also possible to do is to look at properties and if there is one that you would like to offer on, put your offer on the table so that the vendor knows you are interested and make it clear that you are on the market but not sstc as yet. Just don't expect them to stop marketing the property or do anything formal.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Greetings,
We'll certainly keep our eye out at properties, but at least we now know that we can and will be in the position where we have no chain, and are stronger for it.
P.S: That's one of my favourite Father Ted sketches.

Yes I agree with Rosie. If I had a decent offer from someone who hadn't sold yet, I'd tell them I accepted their offer in principle, but that I would stay on the market. If nobody proceedable comes along first then they can have the house at the agreed offer.0

We had a look around before we put our flat on the market (london flat, so very fast turn-around times), found a house we liked, went away and sold our flat and then offered on the house.
Obv we had no guarantees that the house would still be there when we were ready, but the EA wouldn't accept an offer until we were proceedable.
We then had the opposite on selling - a buyer who's own flat wasn't even on the market. I'm afraid we declined and chose a buyer who was ready to proceed.Mortgage when started: £330,995

We did the same and were honest about our position with the EA. Our offer in principle was accepted with the proviso that the house would continue to be marketed and tough luck if someone else came along.0
