Admiral car insurance window screen replacement cover- my options...

Hi everyone!
I am new but after a google search of my issue with no results I realised this might of been the best place all along! I have carried out a search here but also didn’t find my answer.
I have car insurance with Admiral and my policy includes window screen cover (£75 excess for replacement or £25 for repair). When I phone the number it takes me through to Autoglass, I assume Autoglass and Admiral have teamed up!
Anyway for the past 10 days I have been waiting on Autoglass, they never call me back when they’ve promised to, they’ve been trying to source the window screen from the OEM (Vauxhall- car is 2001-2005 VX220 and is rather ‘niche’) as such this window screen is harder to get hold of and also would cost more for Admiral….Autoglass are perfectly aware an alternate part is available (Window screen from Lotus Elise/Exiege- commonality of shared parts!) however they haven’t yet persued this…maybe as Autoglass won’t be able to charge Admiral as much!
Anyway I have had enough of Autoglass, it is taking too long and they haven’t returned calls and dealt with me in a manner that is akin to decent customer service. Thus before I phone Admiral, (I’ve looked and looked and cannot see any T&Cs for the window screen cover)
Am I able and in my own right to arrange my own sourced window fitter and supplier to carry out the work and still pay my excess with Admiral paying the fitter/re-reimbursing me if I pay the fitter? I've lost confidence in Autoglasses customer services and I am not sure if I wish to experience the fitting of a window screen that to a fitter is a 'niche' rarely fitted type....
Thanks :money: :T

Check your policy wording
If you source your own repairer you may need Admiral's authorisation. (Or there may be a limit they will pay you etc)0 -
I was able to find the T&Cs when I used your term "Policy Wording" so here is what I have learnt-
"We will not pay- more than £25 for each glass repair or £50 for each glass replacement after we have
deducted your excess, if the repair or replacement is not arranged via our Glass
Repair Helpline" so if I don't arrange via the repair helpline effectively the total bill can only be £125.00 (£50 admiral & £75 my excess)...
I guess I need to phone admiral and discuss options now as autoglass is slowly becoming a non option!

Whilst Admiral may have outsourced all glass claims to Autoglass, they used to use another company, that doesnt stop them being the ones on the hook for the claim.
Call them and register a complaint about the length of time and the service from their supplier.0
