Fresh plaster beading rust protection

Hi,

I am going to be mist coating our bedrooms after a replaster. This is fine. My question is that I read that BIN123 can be used over the metal beading to stop rust. Should I put the BIN 123 on before the mist coat?

What is the best way to go about this?

Poor quality metal beads can rust. Poor quality plasterers can cause metal beads to rust. But for the vast majority of walls the beads will not rust and not cause problems. They are galvanized to accept typical use and should be fine. Others may disagree, but I have never coated plaster beads prior to decorating.

We'll I certainly don't disagree, and furthermore I don't see how you could prime the beading as the plastering has already been done, there should only be a tiny piece of beading actually visible.

That's fine. Was just wanting to double check. I will just do a normal mist coat. Thanks!

Regarding priming the beading. It would be more priming over the plaster, over the beading so the rust wouldn't bleed through but I understand what you mean about the priming the beading. Since the beading shouldn't rust I suppose there wouldn't have been a point to priming it before plastering. Ta
