Can you not just buy a complete new ropelight and fix it up?

We thought about it, but the frame was rusty too :(

It was one we got for a silly price when Index was closing down, must have been about 10 years or more ago, the weather was not exactly good to it over the years!

    Evening all..:D

Just got back from my hols to discover an email from A Head Office. Despite what I was told on the phone a few weeks ago, it looks like I might be back in the game after all..:j:j

Good afternoon lovely, charming, slightly plump Scottish person..:D

My name is Asda Bird and I'm replying to the email you sent to Andy Clarke regarding your query about the use of our Asda Price Guarantee. As part of Andy’s team, he’s asked me to investigate and respond to you directly on his behalf.

I've contacted a splendid English chap, the General Store Manager in your local store and also our Pricing Analyst here at Head Office who have confirmed that you are able to use the Asda Price Guarantee vouchers subject to the terms and conditions. Any household can only claim 10 vouchers in a calendar month and that we will never issue a household with more than £100 of vouchers in a calendar month.

I hope this answers your query. Thanks for taking the time to email Andy and if there’s anything else we can help you with, please do get in touch.

    Kind regards,
    Asda Bird

So, a very happy Jock here who can't wait to start having some shopping fun again..

I am really glad A have realised the error of their ways and let you back into the fold :T

One of my girls has gone broody

But she's sitting on nothing cos I keep turfing her out and taking the eggs out of the box :rotfl:

Oh bless her I always feel mean when I turf them out.:o we have an orpington hen on the duck eggs. Brought one indian runner and they said she was not laying but layed an egg a day for a week so I put them under hen but did not expect them to be fertile still. So am really pleased. The hen eggs are in an incubator with 20turkey eggs we are hatching for a neighbour.

I have the fussiest cat in the world......and I know why.
Tonight for tea he had steamed chicken breast.

RTC in T works out at 40p for 3 packs after the 3 for £10 discount comes off.

    Cheaper than cat food:o

Am laffing at your steamed chicken breast, I know exactly what you mean. Talk about making a rod for your own back. I have spoilt my cats and they expect fish and prawns (only a few) every meal time. They don't count dry food as food. So when I got a kitten I feed him elsewhere and he has no knowledge of such delights but he insists on wet food as well as the dry on tap. In my ideal world they would be on dry food and happy. They like to wake me up if I dare sleep in.

Is there a RTC in T or are you referring to the A glitch?

I think if it's A then I'll just buy the boxes at £1.50 because the ocean delights isn't on rtc and VT says seafood didn't compare :(

Still I'm happy with £1.50 a box - many thanks to you for posting x

OMG I think you're talking about chicken breast not cat food.

WOW that is a very impressive price. I see I have a lot to learn ;)

It seems I was right the first time. You won't know what I'm talking about here, as I quit writing my OP a few days ago, thinking I could have been wrong. We saw an interesting comparison of the A Braeburn Apples packs (600g) at way expensive price comparing against M at 99p. I thought :o'perhaps that's not as good as it looks' - I suspected they were much bigger packs in M. However, I saw msm with M Braeburn Apples (5) at 99p, so, maybe not, seems they may also be 600g - maybe 5 apples is about 600g (and even though, in the past, £1 and 99p prices were my guides for 750g packs - shows how much things have been downsized, esp. in A). So maybe price comparison vs 99p on 600g is good.

However, it turns out the Braeburn Apples packs are much larger in M. I found some "6 apples" packs but then found some that had 7 apples:D in them - and weighed in at nearly 800g! So, as my initial thought was, maybe not best to buy only 600g in A even for 10% cheaper than 99p - but M at 750g-800g - probably more apples too which could make the difference given that, whatever the size of an apple, you eat a whole apple each time - could be best at 99p.

I'd be inclined to buy Braeburn Apples in M. This is because the APG comparison vs 99p for much smaller packs still isn't as good price per unit and is not adjusting M's price downwards. Also there's no guarantee that the 99p price comparison will continue, as it's comparing against apples that are a much higher pack size in M. If you can only shop in A, or maybe if wombles are offsetting, then it may be that you would shop and compare them in A. Northern Ireland readers, ignore me. However, based on number, you would quite likely be using up the smaller packs in A more quickly, therefore needing to shop more frequently in A and end up spending more. However, I did see that some SP apples packs the other week (may vary by store) were Braeburn Apples and, moreover, they were smaller apples - so, more apples in the pack therefore lasting longer (even if the individual apples there are smaller) - 79p (should be vs T) - may be better than 99p M ones!

It was interesting to see that comparison on the expensive A 600g Braeburn. It also looks good - nonetheless, perhaps it is not.
