You are close enough, from rural Grampian, worked in Shetalnd for a while and airport security always gave me a strange look when I took 100+ rowies on flights back :)
Mock chop, blast from the past. Must have one soon .

First time I went to chipper in Edinburgh I could not understand a questio, so just said yes. Then to my shock saw salt applied and then a thin brown fluid..... They had asked salt an' sauce? Was horrified when I looked at it, BUT tasted great :)

A rowie is an aberdeen roll. A buttery.

And a mock chop is a flat pork burger thing in batter from the chippy.

    Xx

Salt and sauce for me every time. Oh salivating! we need to stop talking about this at this time on weekends  it always makes me hungry.

My poor house guest is just about getting over the fact that our chippys don't sell deep fried pizza _pale_ :rotfl: never saw the attraction myself.

When he first moved here I overheard him on the phone to his gran one night. 'no, no pizzas, no king ribs and no puddings whatsoever.....they didn't even have quarter and half chickens' it tickled me :D :rotfl::rotfl:
