O/S Daily Monday 11th May 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy and a bit overcast but hopefully it’ll warm up and at least the wind has died off. Washing load ready to go out on the line and another now in the WM.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was roasted chicken pieces, new potatoes, and side salad etc. Tonight will be egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and beans, it’s a change to the menu plan but need to use up the sausages.
Weekend was excellent, had a really great time, went to V&A museum, bit of shopping and Kings Road, pub, and then a wine tasting evening and a 3 course dinner on Saturday, even the rain held off too and then was beautiful and warm yesterday, so we were able to eat breakfast outside then made our way home.
Back to work for me today, expecting it to be reasonably busy – we’ll see, but only working this week until Weds lunchtime then off on annual leave and go back on the Tuesday after Bank holiday – haven’t had any leave since January – so well ready for a break, although have got loads to do!
Have great Mondays’ everyone.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Looks like it will be a nice day here, we had a really productive day in the garden yesterday we cut the massive hedge between us and next door which involves OH getting onto the conservatory roof and tops of ladders etc to be able to reach it, we have said that we will not let it get too long next time as its really quite dangerous cutting it back, we got a van load of clippings off of it, we also cut the front hedge and were just on the final bit when OH cut through the electric lead with the hedge cutter  thank god he was ok (and the hedge was finished) we also mowed the lawn and strimmed so its looking all tidy out there for a while.
Made a roast dinner and mum came over which was really nice, there is enough left for OH and I tonight too so a quick easy dinner.
Need to do an online shop tonight as did not get round to it yesterday, and have a quick tidy through.
Have good days all xx
Judi the wedding looked wonderful and your dd made a stunning bride xx0 -
Morning everyone.
After the miserable weather yesterday it looks much better today, so far. Birds are twittering away outside the bedroom window.
Today I must knuckle down to my online stuff and get it going. Once I start I can keep going but I am the great procrastinator.
When I read here about all the escapades of your animals, especially dogs, it always makes me want one. And then we have the bad weather, like yesterday, and I am so relieved that I don't have to go out into it. I'm just a wimp really.
Now that I have laid waste my personality flaws I'm off to start my day. Shower, dress, eat breakfast, two circuits of the farm and the sit down to crack on.
So glad that the wedding went well Judi, loved the photos so thanks for sharing them with us.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Happy Monday.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bit of a grey day here this morning but I am hopeful it will brighten up in a bit. It's my grandson's 4th birthday today and he is very excited. We bought him some spiderman headphones and spiderman shorts set. He got a spiderman bike from his mum....do you sense a theme here :rotfl::rotfl:. They were hoping to go to the dinosaur park today but he went with his dad a couple of days ago but there is plenty to do around here so I am sure they will find something fun for his birthday treat.
My mum and my sister are coming to see me today so I will be rushing round tidying up. I also have a window cleaner coming to give me a quote and hooray, the fridge freezer is being picked up between 11 and 2 so that should hopefully be the end to it. I am a bit (a lot) shaky about all the visitors and workmen and my tummy is doing horrible things TMI so I shall be very glad when this day is over. Oh yes, I also have a tesco delivery first thing to put away.
Anyway, I'd better get on, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Judi - The wedding looked fantastic, hope you had a good day.
tru - That dog of yours keeps you on your toes doesn't He?!
Dumpling, good to 'see' you, hope you manage ok with all your visitors, happy birthday to DGS.
Well, I am struggling to walk this morning. I was away visiting friends for the weekend and we walked up Ben Eighe, which was a long way! Got worried at one point as my friend who had walked it before got lost and we were going deeper into the hills, still we made it but the walk down was horrible and my knees were killing me.
Back to the grind this morning - actually got a whole week to do at school, ok as the next 2 are short weeks!
Hope all the poorlies recover quickly. Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning All,
I never made it on here over the weekend so i have no idea what everyone has been getting up to.
I do hope that everyone is well if not, then you have my very best wishes.
Looks like its going to be a nice day today so i will get the laundry out soon and the dog out too.
It was a totally hectic weekend here and i am so exhausted this morning. DH painted the kitchen and the worktops and the floor etc so that all has to be cleaned too.
I am not going to be sticking to my usual Monday chores list as i have a lot of catching up to do from the weekend and all my prep work for tomorrow for my weekly outing to the patchwork club.
Hey ho i will get as much done as i can and i will try and not stress about what i don't.
Hope everyone has a great day

I was, yesBut have managed to wake up today with my usual dragged-through-hedge look, lol. It's still smells like it's just been washed though, and feels great.
Scampi has definitely been hard work over the past couple of days, he keeps going to the window to check for the cat. I think because he's expecting to see it, he's already a bit wound up. He's started barking at people walking past again - he'd stopped doing that and isn't as bad as before, he comes back when I call him - but it feels like two steps forwards, one step back at the moment. I threatened him with Cesar Millan but he paid no attention to that
I'm getting nowhere with my new blanket so I've put it to one side for now. For weeks I've been wondering what to do with my basket of yarn bits, I decided yesterday to make Scampi another blanketThe colours are interesting, lol. My blankets are usually squares or rectangles, thought I'd do something different this time so I'm making a semi-circle.
The sun was shining at 7am but it's cloudy now and looks like it's going to rain again. I've got the house to myself until lunchtime so will get busy with the housework this morning. I just cannot do it when someone else is here, they get in my wayCrochet this afternoon.

Morning all,
I'm shattered and the house is a tip. More coffee I think before I start.
Thanks for the comments regarding my daughters wedding. I'll be honest ive never been to a registry office wedding before so I didn't know what to expect. It was like a church wedding without the hymns.:D They are due to take off in a few minutes for their honeymoon. Sad I know, but I am tracking their flight.
Eldest daughter and her family have just dropped her sisters house keys in. They are off down to London for a few days fund raising. They will be in Covent Garden this afternoon.
Back to the wedding photos. I think they are a reminder that I need to get back on that healthy eating plan. I fell off it on our way to the caravan and have never eaten so much rubbish in my entire life.... It started at Bristol on the way down to the van. Hubby needed the loo and said he'd get us something for breakfast on his way back. I had to remind him that we are not in contractor mode when he came back with a whole cooked chicken and 4 cream cakes.....and my diet hasn't been the same since.:o When your only 5ft 0 and shrinking, a few lbs extra looks like a few stones.... Bahhh! I doubt if the official pictures will look any more flattering either.:(
The men are back at work, peace reigns.

Good morning all,
Very overcast here this morning, but have done 2 loads of washing. I didn't manage to do any over the weekend.
Dumpling it is good to "see" you. Try to be calm about your visitors coming, you will enjoy it once they are with you.
Judi the photos are great and your DD looks beautiful. I am pleased DH is beginning to warm to Soldier, he is only a little boy. I am glad you enjoyed the Register Office marriage. I performed marriage ceremonies at our Register Office for over 20 years, and I always tried to make the couple feel comfortable to start with and then hopefully they would enjoy it instead of being nervous. I even married DD2 and SIL, and my younger sister and brother in law. In actual fact I was more nervous about performing those 2 ceremonies than all the hundreds I had done.
Have a good day all

Oh wow how special! Mind you I don't think I could have done that I was fighting back the tears all through the service. I even had to shove a tissue in hubbys hand too. The Father of the groom was also very tearful .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
