credit card/credit builders

What's the best way to improve my credit. I have a mobile contract, broadband, tv and phone all with EE.

I have a 123 account with santander £250 overdraft that never gets used.

I spent time clearing debts and had car finance but to help save I handed it back after paying up to the 50% mark. Also satisfied all my credit accounts as I had 4 which defaulted a good few years back.

Also had a ccj from March 2014 which I satisfied in may 2014.

I now have 0 debt and I'm just wanting to improve my history. I done the eligibility checker with barclays and it came back with a no.

I am basically wanting to know if there are any credit cards I can get that would help improve my history and how I look to lenders. This is all due to currently saving for a mortgage which we hope to apply for in around 2 years.

FYI I had a poor credit rating, according to Experian scoring 648. That score fell to 602 after I applied for an Aqua card. I have defaults on my files most I'm disputing as they should have fallen off when my bankruptcy fell off my records after 6 years.
Thought I would give it a go and apply for the aqua card. To my amazement i was accepted online. Today my card came through and have been given a starting credit limit of £900. Now time to build my new credit history.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

The score means nothing. I just want to show that I am in control of my finances and I need proof of that. I have no debt now just a couple of utility bills. I applied for aqua card and got declined so I guess it's just going to take time for me.

with defaults on there chances of getting any credit cards is slim, wait a year and try again, as searches will being your chances down.

Possible with defaults but the older the better,, think 2 years old and you will have a chance.

You'll have to live with the consequences of this for another 5 years. Good behaviour is now what matters.
