Neighbour's fence fallen but he won't fix it.

Hi have a student BTL let with a LA.
A few months ago the neighbour's fence half broken and fell over into my rear garden.
The LA said they left a letter under his door but he didn't reply. Now I chased the LA again on this and said that they tried by leaving him a letter but since they don't know who owns that property they will have to go through land registry, and pay 12 pounds to do that.
Isn't there any free way to do that? Should I keep pushing the LA on this? What if the resident never replies?

Even if he replies, you can't force him to mend the fence0

Sorry to tell you this, as above they don't have to mend or replace the fence. xRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Ok but it looks bad and it's appalling to prospective tenants.
Unfortunately I can't insert any pictures here...
If I go and take it apart would that be legal?0 -
You would be perfectly entitled to remove it from your garden legally.
In your position - I would pick up all the pieces of it lying in my garden and place them back into the landlords garden.
Doesn't get him to sort the fence out - but at least ensures its not on your land.
You could pay £3 and find out who owns the property yourself from Land Registry.0 -
You can pick up the pieces that have fallen into your garden, and put them back in the neighbours garden. (But you don't have the right to take their fence apart.)
Then, if you want, you can build your own fence just on your side of the boundary - so that it hides the neighbours tatty fence.0 -
Your thoughts sound good. Thanks0

And then put up your own fence0
-
Assuming boundary is his (I don't mean the fence I mean the boundary) you canot put up a fence ON the boundary.
But you can put it up on your own land ie just inches inside the boundary.
Currently his fence is trespassing on your land. You cannot steal or damage it, but you can move it off your land.
You can search the Land Regsitry here (£3) raher than get ripped off by your agents charging £12.0
