Logging in just to start to create a habit of regular posting.
Not a lot to report. Plodding on with the wretched marking. Started with new students and have another about to start.
Car will probably be not too expensive but it's not over yet - need to investigate some engine noises before we tackle the journey north.
Speaking of which, does anyone know whether there's enough to do on Shetland to keep us going for 2 weeks? Just looking for simple things as will be spending as much time of beach as weather allows (will be wearing thermals obviously!)

Hello! Nice to see you here! :j
With regard to Shetland,I live in Scotland (not been to Shetland) and I'm afraid I cancelled a caravan holiday on the very scenic west coast of Scotland last year- my husband had ideas that the kids would simply spend all day in wetsuits on the beach! I ,however, thought about it realistically and decided to cancel and rebook a lovely campsite on Loch Lomond near Glasgow due to my fear of very little to do rurally and what there is to do is very weather dependant . It was much better I have to say as we could do indoors stuff as it certainly did rain at times! (The £100 deposit we lost was worth it)
At the risk of sounding even more bleak- Shetland is a very long journey in an old car with two littlies........Sorry to be a Negative Nelly !!
Brighouse Bay campsite near Kircudbright in SouthWest Scotland is also lovely, fab playground onsite and swimming pool, beach and stuff to do around it such as Mabie Farm park (not far away), Cocoabean chocolate factory and Cream of Galloway adventure park- all rural in style, great for wee ones. For a future trip maybe?:D
I will work for you too. If we can find a maths teacher, that is the core covered.

Marking is over! :j:j:j should earn about £800 net for it which will pay most of our holidays.
Waiting for £52 to clear from TXT but will be a few more weeks I think.
Today is s bit of a lazy day. It was about 1am when I finally marked my last paper so I'm chilling out a bit today.
Tomorrow I'll do some decluttering and some cleaning and properly plan our trips. Very excited!

Feeling slightly sick with excitement! Have been listening to Shetland radio online all afternoon too and watching loads of videos to get in the mood. Still waiting for car hire quotes to come back. DS1 being such a Kevin at the moment, he's been warned I might still leave him behind :rotfl:

Ooh, don't do that! He would bring it up at every opportunity for the rest of your life. Older teenagers are hard work on holiday. I found eighteen to be the absolute cut off as they really want to do their own thing at that age. One of mine did say, after his first holiday with friends, that he couldn't believe how basic his accommodation was and he hadn't appreciated how nice the places were that we had taken him to. But they don't get it until then.
