Transferring partial balance

I recently got an offer from cc company to take an interest free period on increased credit limit.. I already had balance on which I pay interesr.
Having taken the offer, another card has offered me interest free balance transfer deal.
If i take this and transfer some of the balance from first card, is there a rule on whether my current interest free balance or the balance on which i am paying interest will be transferred to the new card?

They should transfer the part which is more expensive for you ie the part you are been charged on.
However it is best that you do not mix balance transfers and purchases on the same card.

A BT is just a payment from the new card to the old one, i.e. the rules are the same as for all payments to the card. You can find them in the T&C and in the Summary Box.

Thank you both. Yes, that makes sense since I am effectively 'paying off' some of my balance, they should allocate it to highest interest first. Thanks again
