I make ginger cordial - a syrup but with less sugar & it's glorious as a hot squash or an ingredient in a winter bug blaster. Elderflower cordial uses a lot of sugar too.
My lads (teenagers) go startlingly cooperative for slices of lemon or lime, so I buy in season, slice & freeze....

RE: squashes tasting bad - this might be because almost all brands now use artificial sweeteners in place of sugar and have steadily increased the proportion of them over the years as it's cheaper than sugar, so more profit for them - if you can find a brand which uses 100% actual sugar you might like them better.

Not a big fan of squash, but I have some Ocean Spray cranberry and raspberry squash which actually is pretty nice. It also has no artificial sweeteners in it, so yeah.

Cheers for the heads up about 7-up. (And the other person who mentioned Waitrose lemonade.) I might make me a cranberry, raspberry and lemonade cordial.

I use a splash of cherries & berries diluted with sparkling water, tastes like a fizzy pop.
Bubbly water with sliced lemon or lime or try mixing pure fruit juices ie. orange and cranberry

Iced tea is a favourite of ours, you can use any sort of tea, add fruit (we freeze the fruit after slicing, lasts for ages) that compliments the flavour and ice. Job done! Only natural sugar, it is a cold drink so compliments food, etc.
  • The tap water here is ok but only when very, very cold.

I mostly drink sparkling water (know it isn't good for the environment....) but I also like homemade ginger lemonade (ginger, lemon juice, some sugar) or just a bit of lemon juice in the water.
Plus I drink a lot fruit tea, I cook a pot and start drinking when it is still hot and the last cup is normally cold until I drink it. I have a peppermint and an apple mint plant on my balcony, gives lovely tea too.
