I've just discovered the very tasty trick of adding cucumber and all sorts of other bits to chilled water
So far I've added mint leaves from the garden, frozen raspberries and shavings of lemon and Satsuma peel
Really makes the water taste more interesting
Hadn't thought of ginger but that is a great idea! I've got a bottle for my desk at work with a freezable core that keeps the drink chilled which I think makes it taste better0 -
I too add slices of cucumber & lemon, some mint leaves & grated ginger to tap water, leave it to infuse overnight. A simple slice of lemon added to chilled tap water makes all the difference. I keep sliced lemon in the freezer, as I have it in tea in preference to milk, and also pop it into my glass of water.
Now, this is going to sound silly, but the same chilled tap water + slice of lemon tastes better (to me anyway) drunk out of a wine glass!:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Not as cheap as many, but I do like the Bottle Green concentrates, also traditional Roses lime cordial. Notably they both have sugar rather than sweeteners and some of the price difference vanishes when you consider how much drink they make up. I also like ginger concentrate I make from ginger root, sugar and lemon juice. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Last year i did Cranberry & Green tea, that was nice and got some Strawberry & Mango on the go at the moment.
Just read up on the Internet how to do it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I was going to suggest lime cordial as well, Sainsburys do one for about 65p0

Catkins if you're not keen on orange or blackcurrant squash, the big supermarkets do a cherries and berries one which is delicious.
We used to drink bottled or filtered water but I switched us all to tap water by filling the water bottles from the tap. No one even noticed so I stopped pretending after a while and now everyone just drinks it without complaint. DH does like fruit juice which I do buy for him, and if it's there the kids will drink it too. My shopping bill is always more if I buy juice. They will easily go through a carton a day. Even if I buy the cheapest that's an extra £4.20 a week at least. So I just plonk drinks of water or squash in front of them and they just drink without complaint as it is served to them!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Some very good and useful ideas so thank you all.
As I say, I have made elderflower cordial before and will again this year so making other fruit cordials is worth thinking about. Also like the idea of chilled fruit teas and also using them to make wine. I do like fruit teas but I only like cold drinks with my meals.
I used to drink Roses lime cordial all the time but I suffer from migraines and it seemed as though this was one of the things that triggered it. I may try it again and see if that still seems to be the case as I haven't drunk it for probably a year at leastThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
we aren't big fans of plain water so we have ASDAs chosen by you double concentrate squash, it's three 1.5lt bottles for £3 and we go through the 3 in a month (that's me taking some to work and drinking it at home, bf taking a 1lt sports bottle to work and drinking with meals and our little one drinking weak bottles throughout the day). We've just finished a bottle of strawberry and started a tropical one
We also have a sodastream and really like it; bf tends to drink a fair bit of fizz on non training days whereas I'll make a bottle of pink grapefruit or apple and mango and it will last me a week. we save even more money by buying the flavours we like on offer from sodastream direct************************************

Until I read your tip I'd never considered slicing and freezing lemons and limes. No longer will they get wasted in my fridge! Thank you! :money:
Maybe I should try the wine glass tip too!Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0
