Has anybody found travel insurance which covers the sky jump ride in Las Vegas

Hi,

I'm going to Las Vegas in June and I plan on going on the 'Sky Jump' ride at the Stratosphere Hotel. It's a controlled descent on a wire.

Has anybody reading this a) done that and b) found travel insurance which explicitly covers it?

I've gone to a few 'extreme sport' insurance brokers who happily cover bungee jumping and other such activities but their underwritiers won't cover a Sky Jump.

I found one this morning which explicitly said they covered the Sky Jump in New Zealand but when I rang I was told that the website was wrong and there was 'a big red x' next to Sky Jumping.

Has anybody had more luck than me please?

With respect, please only reply if you have found insurance for this activity or know someone who has.

Thanks

Was it PJ Hyamen that covered the NZ Sky jump but not the Vegas jump?

Shouldn't the cost of the ride include some sort of insurance coverage? When I did paragliding in Turkey a few years ago it did.

Hi, No it was direct travel (direct-travel dot co dot uk). I have no problem with them, other than their website being wrong. The young lady at the call centre was very nice and said she would get that fixed.

    Thanks

    Hi,

There might be something like that, I'd be surprised though. I'm no doubt going to have to sign a waiver form, absolving them of responsibility should I end up less than alive having been on their ride.

I need cover which includes repatriation, which is astonishingly expensive and I need to know I have it in place before I leave the UK,I'm not one for leaving something like that to chance or the last minute. I am close to the wire on this only because I didn't think it would be a problem. Who would expect not to be able to get travel insurance for going to Alton Towers or Thorpe Park?

If you are worried that you might need insurance for just a single jump, then don't do it.
It must be very dangerous, and caution would be a much more cost- and life-effective insurance.

I have seen this Jump and it looks perfectly safe and there were no piles of bodies round the base of the Strat. I think as long as you have no medical conditions ,like a bad heart etc you would have no problems. That said I did not fancy it as I have had enough frights in my life.

Try PJ Hayman, they have an adventures policy which I would normally place unusual activities such as this. Their staff are helpful and knowledgeable.

Oddly they also list the New Zealand Sky Jump as being covered under their Standard Travel Policy (Travel Plus) but it specifically states "New Zealand Only" hence my earlier question.
