The vicar came round yesterday morning and we agreed the service, reading and hymns and discussed DH's life and how lucky we were to have had him as a husband and father.
We said a prayer and that helped.
Went to York and treated ourselves to a healthy salad with DDs and SIL and went to the cinema as a distraction. Enjoyed the film and being out as a family. Even did a shopping trip to allidees for bits and bobs.
Chicken in a roasting bag is in the oven with veg and potatoes sprinkled with garlic and olive oil. DD and SIL have gone to visit another DD and will be back for lunch.
Knock at the door and a beautiful bouquet and sympathy card has just come from a friend of DD which is so sweet.
Can't get a caterer for Saturday so will order some buffet style dishes from fancy supermarket, DDs will bake a couple of cakes and I might bake some pizza wheels etc.
Trying to just go with the flow and do what I feel I can manage.
Family have been fantastic and I am so proud of them.

Afternoon all
Long time lurker popping back in........Hello everyone!
Love to all who are coping with the loss of loved ones.
The blackbird family have been on the back lawn all morning. Mum and Dad are supervising the two young ones feeding themselves. So sweet!
Mr Gintot and I have been cleaning windows this weekend-a job long overdue I might add. Homemade carrot and lentil soup with HM bread both days so frugal lunches.
Roast chicken with all the trimmings tonight and I will make a bread pudding as we have leftover white sliced as DS was away this weekend and didn't mention it until Friday night. Chicken pie or curry tomorrow with leftovers.
It's nice to be back and I will try to post regularly.
Take care.

Hi all,
Just popping to say ((hugs))) to Elona, you have a wonderful family x
DH is in the garden taming weeds, I,m in and out of the kitchen prepping roast chicken, and using up fridge veg in a quiche, and making a couple of sponge sandwiches (coffee and walnut and jam and vanilla) for through the week, might make some shortbread too.
Not wanting to get too political, but learnt last night that Micheal Gove is entering my field of work as the boss - prayers welcome.......Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

This weekend has been very stressful due to feuding mother and sister, which I have landed in the middle of. Trying to stay out of it, but it's been difficult when they're both being so evil to each other, and then getting so upset about it.
All the beds stripped and changed today as well as all the top floor hovered and de-cobwebbed! Will do the washing up in a bit.
Have jacket potatoes in the oven for tea, along with some peanut cookies and shortbread for the biscuit tin. Now, a cuppa and a bit of a knit on a cardi my mother chose (possibly the most crappy pattern in the world - I'm winging it entirely!) in some lovely soft Blue-faced Leicester wool, which is as least soothing to run through my fingers.
Next week is supposed to be a mini heat wave, so will try and get the sheets on the line tomorrow.0 -
Elona you are one remarkable lady, I have to say. And you know, DH will never be really gone from you, he'll live forever in your heart. I'm sure JackieO would agree with me on that.TravellingAbuela wrote: »At least your DD isn't rushing into marriage DUMPLING. Mr LW and I made our promise "for as long as love shall last".:oWe're in the middle of a cat issue as I typeHe's up at the window and keeps starting a low growl, I say 'gently' in a soft voice, he pulls back and huffs. He's trying his very best not bark, lol. Then he looks at me as if to say 'tell me I'm a good boy, then'
Sadly the Noyz Boyz (as I decided to call them) went home yesterday, so the bungalow is resounding with a deafening silence.:( Not to worry - we have Pippa (Westie/JR cross) coming on 18th May for a week.;)Islandmaid wrote: »Not wanting to get too political, but learnt last night that Micheal Gove is entering my field of work as the boss - prayers welcome.......

Afternoon all,
I did try and post this morning but didn't get very far. Despite the English Defence League protesting through the town where the wedding was conducted all things went well. We left for the registry office a lot earlier than we would normally have done. Since we left before the bride we were pretty confident we would get there in time. There were police, riot vans, motorbikes and police on the streets everywhere.

It was a lovely service, my daughter looked amazing. She whispered to her Dad as he walked her up the aisle "Thanks for buying me the dress of my dreams Dad". When I persuaded hubby to pay for her dress he moaned about the cost..."What on earth? Is it laced in pure gold" he complained. However when he saw her in it he said it was worth every penny.
I had a major mishap with applying my makeup on the day too. Bought the exact shade of eye colour to match my lipstick the day before. Even tried it on before I bought it and it was perfect. However on the day I used a primer and it grabbed the colour. I tried so hard to blend and tone it down but no matter how much I tried it looked too bright so I started again with one of my usual colours. What a waste of money that was. Trying to save money on the day by not having my makeup done for me cost me dearly in the long run. My eyes are so sore today. Still, all sorted in the end and I got compliments on my outfit but I'm annoyed with listening to hubby who told me I would look better in black hosiery instead of the colour I'd bought. Looking at the pictures I cant believe I listened to him.
The reception was lovely too. Not many people from our side of the family unfortunately but we found ourselves a table and had a lovely time. 'Youngest' was in good form and in full 'social' mode. Hubbys brother in law was talking pure tripe (weve heard it all before a million times) but it was taken in good humour. He went up to the bar twice to get his wife a drink and came back with another pint for him and had forgotten the wife. Hence he got quietly sozzled and funnier by the pint.
Soldier was a credit to himself and his two Mums. I was so proud of him! He was loved by all who met him. I think hubby is warming to him too.
'Youngest' managed to catch me having a bop on the dance floor... "vengeance" he said, for videoing him dancing on the dance floor when he was 8 and posting it online.:rotfl:
The newly weds are leaving this afternoon for two weeks in the Domican Republic. My other daughter and her family are packing up to go down to London where they are fund raising there. I'm hoping I will get to see them again though before they finally set off back to South Africa.
I'll try and post some pictures when ive got them all together. Ive got some on my pc and some on my phone. I need to go through them.
House is a bit of a tip but ive had my Grandson overnight and he's only just gone home. I wont be doing anything that resembles housework today... I've done enough!

My eldest DD informed us that she will be getting married August 2016 to that man I was so worried about. They are moving in together next month and so far it seems ok. The grandchildren seem to like him and my DD says she is very happy and that he treats her with nothing but respect. She is 28 so I have to acknowledge that she knows her own mind by now!
