OS Daily thread Sunday 10th May

OS Daily 10th May This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:
I am up bright and early this morning as I didn't sleep very well. I don't feel too bad though and I am enjoying the peace and quiet with a cup of tea.
It looks like it is going to be a nice day here again. I am umming and ahhing whether to go to church this morning. I probably will as I haven't been for a few weeks and it will be lovely to see everyone there.
Hubby is going to make a roast for lunch and I will have to get the washing sorted today as well as otherwise he won't have anything to wear for work next week.
I hope the wedding went really well Judi and your DD had a magical day. My eldest DD informed us that she will be getting married August 2016 to that man I was so worried about. They are moving in together next month and so far it seems ok. The grandchildren seem to like him and my DD says she is very happy and that he treats her with nothing but respect. She is 28 so I have to acknowledge that she knows her own mind by now!
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning one and all. Good start here too and warmer temps forecast for the coming week. About time!
At least your DD isn't rushing into marriage DUMPLING. Living together first is the way to go these days and if it doesn't work out there's no messy divorce to go through. But, saying that, DD and OH lived together first, had our eldest DGD and then got married, despite spending all their time arguing! We all said it wouldn't last and it didn't!! It cost us a lot of money to be proved right though!!
Thinking of you ELONA and hoping JUDI and family had a wonderful day yesterday. GERS your day sounded idyllic, I too love being beside water and watching boats but we are smack in the middle of the country, as far from the sea as you can be!!
We are going to the caravan after an early lunch and I'm hoping a few day's rest with feet up will help. Either nose in a book or watching the wildlife. Food for easily prepped meals going with us and, of course, the odd meal out! Sadly no boats to watch - we do have the River Nidd on site but not deep enough for boats!! It's nice watching out for the kingfisher though which very occasionally darts past!
Have a good day all ((((((((HUGS))))))) if needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all and thank you Dumpling for starting the thread.
TA your caravan break sounds just the ticket, hope you enjoy and benefit from the rest.
Elona thinking of you often
Judi hope you had a fantastic day at the wedding
Tru wondering how Master Scampi is this morning, bless him. You are doing a great job to give him a new life.
Slightly dull start here but don't think it will be a bad day. DH suddenly got himself into painting & decorating mode yesterday so I don't want to interrupt the flow as it doesn't happen very often lol. So it will be a good dog walk then home to let him get on with it. I think he wants to pop out to the sports shop to buy some running spikes for a race this week so we will have a break later to do that. I don't paint, I just make the tea, supply food and get on with other jobs while keeping out of the way!!!
Have a good and safe day everyone x0 -
Morning all
Hugs to Dumpling, Elona, TA, Molly and anyone else in need.
Today I shall do a bit of tidying, cook roast beef for dinner & do some sewing.
I didn't get much done yesterday, I just generally felt a bit bleugh, but we had a nice meal at a friends house though it did mean a late night.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful bright day here got OH work clothes in the wm which will be hung outside I will strip the bed after and get that washed and dried too.
Ive got a huge bit of pork out of the freezer for dinner today, I have invited mum, dd is at work today and has an assignment due in tomorrow so will do a dinner for her after work then we will run her home and she can get her head down and get on with her work, I think most of its done just the summing up, so at least she wont have to cook.
Pulled the fridge out yesterday to clean around it, and discovered a whole lot of other problems, the fridge sits in front of an unused door in the kitchen, its boarded up and decorated from the inside so you cant see it, but when we pulled it out the whole of the board was covered in mound and was literally dripping wet , we have had to rip it all out and bleach it all and try and dry it out and discover where the water was coming from!
OH thinks he has discovered a leek under the sink so we need to fix that, replace all the wooden bits around the door and re board it up and then decorate againall this from pulling the fridge out ! my fridge is currently in the study !
Need to do an online shop today and remake the bed and prep the dinner.
Elona hope you are ok xx
Marie I hope your DIL continues to improve xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
Judi I hope you all had a great day yesterday
TravellingAbuela I hope you're feeling better xx
elona Thinking of you xx
alfsmum Ahhh thank you! We're in the middle of a cat issue as I typeHe's up at the window and keeps starting a low growl, I say 'gently' in a soft voice, he pulls back and huffs. He's trying his very best not bark, lol. Then he looks at me as if to say 'tell me I'm a good boy, then'

I can't usually be bothered with hair care, I just use whatever shampoo is cheapest and leave-in conditioner. I've used the good stuff occasionally and it makes a slight difference, but then I end up tying my hair up in a knot/ponytail to clean out the chickens, work in the greenhouses, etcYou can pretty much guarantee that I'll walk into a cobweb too, lol. Seems a waste. But lately my hair has been really dry and feels dirty after just one day. Miss tru has given me her leftovers – I decanted them yesterday, along with everything else
– so I'm going to use them for a couple of washes and see if it improves. I'm 44 so I suppose hormones might be playing a part in this? Should probably take a look at my diet too, it's not bad at all but maybe I should adjust it a bit.
I think hormones are kicking in, actually. I used to get annoyed when people did incredibly stupid things, took three hours to do a 30 minute job, threw a tantrum when I did something that only involved me and they'd muscle in with 'advice' that I'd ignore (for that, read you must do it my way, even though it's nothing to do with me and I'm not going to help anyway), etc etc etc. Many etc'sNow I just smile and think 'F U' (yes, not very grown up but there you go!) and let them stew in their own perfectness while I wander merrily on my way
And patience – where did that come from? I've never had much and thought I'd get worse as I got older. I think God thought 'You WILL learn to be patient, so I'm sending you a loony dog. Deal with it' :rotfl:
Today will mostly involve reading, crochet, dog play and foodThe weather's better today so I'll spend an hour in the garden this morning. I'm going to wash my hair with posh shampoo in a mo, then leave the conditioner on for half an hour. Good excuse to spend 30 mins doing nothing while I wait for it to work

Morning everyone.
There's always a price to pay for a spot of glorious weather here, so today is wet and grey and cold. As is the forecast for the whole of next week. Sigggghhhh. It's not quite as nice sitting in rain watching the yachts and certainly soggy birds are no pleasure!
Today I will finish my half read book and then stick it in the bag for the docs surgery. It's got a 'bring and leave for free, pick up and buy for a donation' section. Then I've got three recorded programmes from Friday to watch probably will vacuum upstairs and the stairs too.
Food this afternoon is shoulder of lamb and assorted veggies. I actually organised!
TA - have a restful time at the caravan. Indulge yourself after your rough week.
Judi - have you survived the wedding?
I hope everyone has a good Sunday.0 -
Morning, (((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
I have to start my cat feeding duties in a short while, feeding DD2's cat whilst she is away. Will be going down in a short while. Need to shut the kitchen door to the hall, to stop him going into the house. Its my daughters birthday today, hope she has some sun where they are. she is 47.
A bit grey again today, the wind seems to have dropped again. Need to start my prep for tuesdays trip, have got some ham out of the freezer for sandwiches, will go to Morrisons tomorrow when OH has his INR appointment.
Easy supper tonight pork chops, baked spud and butternut squash and veg. I have a strudel in the freezer so thats dessert sorted.0 -
Good Morning everyone, nicer here today and a little warmer after a grey start. I've been pottering in the kitchen and round the house and don't seem to have achieved much at all. I've made swedish style cucumber and beetroot for lunches this week, both for me as He Who Knows doesn't like either and they are steeping in vinegar on the work surface. I've got some new potatoes on the hob to make a potato salad too so maybe I've achieved something! He Who Knows has pottered off to the allotment and I'm now going to steam mop the floors, Oh my, I know how to live!!!
Have yourselves a good one all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Bright and sunny here. Strimmed the lawn this morning, well the patches that have survived. We only have a small area but have always had terrible trouble keeping a half decent lawn. Washing blowing nicely. I do love to see washing blowing against a blue sky
I have a bit of tidying to do and need to sit and make a list of all the stuff we have to take to Edinburgh.
Elona - Been thinking of you.
Judi - Hope you haven't got a hangover and it was a brilliant day.
Tru - Are you dancing about with wonderful tresses now?
Have a lovely day all.0
