Sorry to her of your loss Louise, this is an unwelcome added stress at a difficult time.

We had a similar issue when my father in law passed away. He left enough to cover the cost of his funeral (he had already told us this before his passing) and he had a Littlewoods account.
My wife informed them accordingly and that there was no money left in his estate after the cost of the funeral to pay for it. They said they still wanted their money. One slight difference is that he had PPI on his account. When she mentioned this they told her he was too old for it to be valid!! She (more than politely than I would have) told them where to go and we never heard from them again.
